Over a decade later, why aren't the 2000s romanticized like the 90s were?

In general, the 90s are considered the Golden Age of American entertainment and fashion, everything from movies, music, sports, clothing, etc is considered the greatest period ever.

The 00s was a watered-down version of the 90s and gave birth to the 2010s which is arguably one of the worst decades ever. Yes the 00s has it's moments but it fell off during the middle of that era.

90's started coming back in style around 2015 but youtube, buzzfeed obsessed nostalga, makeup/fashion blogs/gurus gave it a big push. maybe another 3-4 years for 2000's although fashion wise its starting to come back with y2k egirl fashion already. on ig y2k is hella romanticized but not mainstreamed yet

The 2000s were not weak and actually you could say it was better than the 90s cause half of the 90s was a crack epidemic.

Only thing trash about the 2000s was the fashion indeed. But I felt like in the 2000s dudes was having fun. Nothing like coming home to watching 106 and park.
Son how old were you in 1990???....:comeon:....

I think it's because the 2000s don't have that many distinguishable features/fads. When you think 70s, 80s, or 90s a certain image comes to mind. A lot of the stuff that came out in the 2000s aren't that memorable. Doesn't help that it came after the 90s which was top quality entertainment, so a lot of those 2000s kids grew up on 90s entertainment/reruns.

Also the mood of the world after 9/11 and the War on Terrorism probably plays a roll. No one looks back to that with nostalgia.
