Outside of Johnnie Cochran...when was the last time a black attorney has had a winning record?

The question that remains is...will they receive long jail sentences?

The better question is what kind of fool expects justice from his oppressor? The justice system is working like it supposed to, and as usual, far too many of our people are surprised that it works the way it does. On the rare occasion it works in our favor, we celebrate as if we've achieved some sort of victory when the other 997 times it did the inverse.

If you think you can do a better job than Crump, or anyone else for that matter, enroll in an uni and get your JD. If you're not going to do shyt about working tireless to getting the convictions you desire, you need to shut the fukk up. I hate to sound like that, but I have a low tolerance for sideline critics. That includes me too.

Just change out Obama for Crump or anyone other black person for that matter.

That's the problem right there...some of us black folk don't want settlements...we want them to be jailed.

I appreciate your passion, but there’s a disconnect here. Theses are plaintiff’s attorneys who sue the police officers/ departments for civil rights claims which results in monetary judgments. Civil lawyers can’t sue some into jail. Putting people in jail is the sole responsibility of the prosecution. Your issue is with the prosecutors who either don’t bring the case or lose at trial.

Look I understand you can't change anything once the judge's gavel is slammed but alot of us don't believe in settling/submitting just because the "oppressor" won't budge.

Everybody doesn't believe in giving up and accepting what is hopefully given.

That brings me back to my other statement in which...why lawyer up when the prosecution role is bigger in the outcome? That's why I believe the four pictured are used as media distractions (somewhat like law celebrities) to play with emotions while settlements are being made.

Gavel? Case hasn't even been tried in court yet.

It took Crump and the other family lawyer to get the case attention so the McMichaels could be arrested in the first place. Arbery was murdered in February. We're in the middle of May. The tape wasn't released until the beginning of this month. Crump has been working on this case since March.

You say that you don't believe in giving up and accepting what is hopefully given. What are you going to do about it? Like I said earlier, if you don't like what Crump and the others are doing, get to work on getting that juris degree and do better than they do.

I was speaking in terms of other cases in regards to the gavel comment.

Look all me and other black folks are saying is that we're tired of seeing the same results and due to these four faces we're already anticipating the same result and this is we're stating our frustrations.

I'm not saying they're bad lawyers but some of us think maybe going a different route would've been best. That's all.

There are a few reasons:

1) Media representation. For better or worse, these cases get tried in the media. These families need someone out there beating the drum, and stopping the media from sullying the victim’s name. And keeping it in the public eye.

2) Keeping the prosecution honest. Lawyers hate talking to other lawyers. These dudes constantly call the prosecution to make sure shyt is getting done. And that constant contact let’s them get on tv to talk shyt about the prosecution. It doesn’t always result in a guilty verdict, but it results in the prosecution at least pretending like they care.

3) Observing the criminal case from start to finish helps them build the civil case. Reading a transcript doesn’t quite give you the same feel and read of a witness as watching it as it happens live.

Some of you are borderline retarded. It's up to the state or feds to win a criminal case against police brutality.

Like another poster just mentioned these attorney's specialize in civil law. Most of yalls frustrations are with district attorneys, state prosecutors, etc that try these cases that you typically never see and are generally always White.

Most casuals wouldn't even know who Johnnie Cochran was if it wasn't for the OJ Simpson trial. Cochran was a criminal defense attorney which is an entirely different area of law than what these attorneys deal with.

You have personal injury attorneys, estate planning attorneys, bankruptcy attorneys, intellectual property attorneys, real estate attorneys, employment attorneys, corporate attorneys, immigration attorneys, criminal attorneys, medical malpractice attorneys, tax attorneys, civil rights attorneys, etc.

All of them specialize in a different areas of law. The family just can't appoint an attorney to try a case involving their family member being murdered by an individual. That's a state and local judicial decision that's typically based on evidence that's relayed to them by law enforcement.

Cochran had an interesting path. He’s a former prosecutor and he made a ton of money suing the shyt out of police departments in the 80s as a civil rights attorney. When he defended OJ he was still pretty much only doing Civil Work. He just knew so much about the LAPD, he wasn’t going to not take the case.
