Not really at the time. He was still mainly backpack rap. It's why he was in a group with lupe, Bob, Charles Hamilton, Blu, wale, Cole, diggy, cool kids etc

They fumbled with I love college so people thought he was frat rap. Supposedly he's still been making some actual heat on the low but who cares lol
He's the I love college dude?> I forgot. I don't ever remember him being apart of a group like that. That's wild.

Whatever happened to diggy simmons? :mjlol:

oh ok. but are we talking actually off the head or "freestyle" writtens in the vein of black thought etc?
Watch it breh. He's freestyling. I'd link it but I'm at work. I'll link it here when I get off. Los is the GOAT off the topfreestyle, or at least in that Hamilton discussion.

The whole damn roster sadly blew it:

  • CH went off the deep end despite birthing the Emo Rap style that no one will ever give him props for
  • Wale is a bum
  • B.O.B living his best Minecraft life
  • Roth chuck the peace :yeshrug:
:mindblown:We shouldn't be in this shytty era of hip hop at all:sadbron:

Yeah, ahaha. His one claim to fame. The group never did much. I think like one song before Lupe joined that group that Kanye was tryna make

I thought Diggy was tryna make a comeback after his debut but it seems that beef with Cole didn't work in his favor at all. But apparently he dropped another album this past Feb.

Los has a few vids of him freestyling just off the dome. I think there was one in the club where he was taking suggestions from the crowd the entire time on what to rhyme about.

I'll see if I can find it

This ain't the one I'm thinking of but I guess he's done it a few times.

i wasnt a big fan of any of them but wale was being propped up w/ that jay z and ronson cosign since the beginning.

roth could actually really rap. i remember enjoying a couple of his projects. its funny looking back how people used to say he was biting em. i never cared for ch, personally. tho he had a die hard fanbase online.

to this day i have never heard a better off the head performance than sonic man. and i'm including supernat, juice, eminem, hieroglyphics crew, whoever

i've never witnessed anything quite like that and he went on for a good five minute straight. i wish that mental illness didn't derail his career

Whats Sonic man? A freestyle? By who?

You mentioning better then supernat piqued my interest

Always knew Asher Roth had no chance to blow.
He had a chance. Lot of shyt derailed him. The label pushed for a wild frat boy image and it didn't work. Ironically a few years later Drake, Cole, and Kendrick blew up by being regular dudes who rapped about life. They should have let Roth be himself.

They tried to do this with Mac Miller too. Unlike Roth who kinda gave up and disappeared, Mac found his own lane and excelled without letting a label control him.

Well, it had more to do with the fact he wasn’t a very good rapper as well as the whole corny image.

Mac Miller was dope since the beginning with his early tracks like Nikes on my feet..
