The world is changing, and most Americans have absolutely no idea what this is going to mean for them. As demand for the U.S. dollar and U.S. debt goes down, the things that we buy at the store will cost a lot more, our standard of living will go down and it will become a lot more expensive for everyone (including the U.S. government) to borrow money.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much that can be done about any of this at this point. When it comes to economics, China has been playing chess while the United States has been playing checkers. And now decades of very, very foolish decisions are starting to catch up with us.

The false prosperity that most Americans are enjoying today will soon start disappearing, and most of them will have no idea why it is happening.

The years ahead are going to be very challenging, and so I hope that you are getting ready for them.

this is largely false. it's a scare tactic that is almost 20 years old, deployed by the right wing in a propaganda machine used to scare the public into supporting catastrophic repeal of welfare and other safety nets. there is literally nothing, short of a third world war, that china can do about our debt. and there's no chance of them going to war over it, since they stand to lose far more than us. their backs are against the wall, and they know it. we don't have to pay it back, and it will not lead to a diminished standard of living in our nation. we, and only we, determine the fiat currency. it's our power and no other country can dispute that edict. the dollar will not lose its value to anything beyond a negligible degree, and china will not come calling for its iou. not going to happen. but keep peddling that fear mongering bs, conservatives. :snooze:

It's a shame because all most people really want to do is make a living. Why do we all have to have Masters Degrees and all work in the same 3 fields to put food on the table?

Because that what college is supposed to be: a place where few can excel and work in 60+ hour jobs where people hardly see their kids growing up while the liberal arts majors starve to death. Its the right thing to do :troll:

i hear everything you saying and you;'re on to something. but you're missing a key point.

lets do it like this. i create a business for selling shoes. its just me by myself. i'm doing well. i feel its time to expand. i need to bring in more orders. but i cant handle the customers without some help. i now need someone to work at the front desk, i also need another instore shoe sales person. someone to take orders while i attempt to keep expanding the business and stay creative with my shoe designs.

but doing so will cost me the price of 3 employees(not counting myself).

if my business doesnt make enough money to pay all 3 a true LIVING WAGE. then i need not to expand to that point until i know for a fact my expansion will bring in enough money to pay a living wage to that many people. its that simple. yes this will slow business growth. but oh well. its the right thing to do. and it stops the fools gold we have with small businesses now. if you dont earn enough doe in your business to pay your employees a legit wage. then you aint making as much as you think. when you need slave labor in order to make a come up your product isnt as great as you thought it was.

If you pay your employees minimum wage, you gonna see a lot of people come and go :ld:
