Best-case scenario would have been Biden choosing not to run for a second term so whoever got the nomination would have full support of the people. I honestly don't know who beats Trump in that scenario, but it would have given the Democrats enough time to put up a serious challenge.

Wes Moore would’ve been the best Hail Mary option after Biden dropped out. He’s tremendously likable. Accomplished youthful politician with a military background. He could easily spend 3+ hours on Joe Rogan and win people over. And when I say people I mean the 15 million people who voted for Biden but didn’t vote for Kamala.

The energy here is completely different from a couple months ago. Nobody thought Biden was a suitable candidate and they were expecting him to get his ass kicked. Everyone was afraid Kamala would pick someone like Shapiro as her running mate and she was praised for picking Tim Walz. Her campaign raised millions within days. Even Trump was nervous, which is why he didn't want to debate her.
Now, the idea is Kamala was a complete loser who shouldn't have bothered running and Trump was expected to stomp on her the minute she got the nomination. Tim Walz was also a bad choice for her running mate and she was better off choosing someone like Shapiro. You could argue this was a repeat of 2016, but people are being disingenuous acting like she didn't stand a chance from day one.
