I honestly never had any bad experiences or negative reactions from men that I dated, about me being a single mom in real life. Tbh no one ever is surprised—so maybe I just have that look(which now I’m thinking is a bad thing lol). But I get why a man wouldn’t date one—especially if they don’t have children themselves.

I do hate that single moms get that rep of being desperate/hurting for a man, easy prey, looking for a father to take care of their children, still fukking their bd, or looking for a man to save them.

My best friend married a single mom. She had a little girl and the bio-father is not in the picture at all. I remember when he first told me that he was thinking of marrying her, I asked him why he was getting more involved with her and her daughter.

He told me that it was enlarge part because of his own upbringing. His father wasn't shyt and wanted nothing to do with him. He said he was always envious of guys, like myself, who had their fathers and could do father-son things. He said that he used to wish his mother would meet a good dude who would marry her and raise him and his little sister as his own. So when he met that amazing woman who happened to be a single mother, he saw it as a potential opportunity to give that little girl the father he always wanted. It's wasn't a burden to him.

As far as I know his marriage is solid. His wife is the ride or die type, his step daughter fully embraces him as her father, and they had another kid (my goddaughter) a year ago.

That's not my role, but I'll never disrespect a man who plays that position.
