Only a matter of time before a legit 3rd party emerges.

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
How many members do they have in congress?
On the state level?

They’re not legit. They have zero political power.

This Congress, none, but Justin Amash was in the last Congress as a Libertarian.

And both the Libertarian Party and Green Party had representatives in State legislatures recently.

At what point would you say a 3rd party is legit? How many seats or how much power do they need before you recognize them as legit?

An alternative to what? The system is the problem. Both parties are either hampered or taking advantage of the disfunction.

A third party made of the same people with the same idealogues as the other two?

The only legit third party in America would be a regional party that doesn’t bother with the other two. Most politics is local so why wouldn’t a third party be?

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
The current infrastructure of the political system makes it virtually impossible for a third party to emerge. Within our life time we twice saw a candidate win the popular for president and still lost. The system is real.

I disagree.

U got independent voters who can be swayed.

Progressive voters are tired of voting blue because they have no choice other than not voting.

If progressives started their own party, it would all but guarantee democrats would lose a lot as they would lose votes.

This would force centrist democrats to bend to the will of that voter base. In order for them to be viable they would have to reabsorb those voters.
