Here we go again. Typical Tom response: no context, hand wringing and finger pointing. I can point you to THOUSANDS of black kids over the past few decades who were honor roll students and had both parents active in their school life who did absolutely horrible on the SAT. What was their excuse? Let me guess: that’s different.

You can point to many issues regarding education in the black community. Using the SAT to highlight those issues is, and has always been, bullshyt.

Are Asian children inherently smarter than everyone, or is this a direct correlation to parenting styles and who takes school more seriously. It's clearly the latter. Asian kids aren't being shuffled from one sport to another like white or black kids.

Two parent households, high incomes, and culture based. Indians included can spend their entire lives inside their communities. Shame is still present. Honoring your parents is still present, but more importantly the parents are people to be honored

While this is true. Public school students spend an inordinate amount of their time prepping for and taking standardized tests. And it doesn’t seem to help their scores.

Private school kids get tutors to bump them from 12-1400 or from 13-1600. But the ability to score well is already there even with substantially much less time spent in class rooms taking standardized tests.

Public schools spend time drilling what’s on the test instead of strategies and critical thinking to score well.

The answers are literally right in front of you, and there any strategies to figure out the answer even if you have no idea what it could be. Public schools don’t focus on that. Unfortunately.

Unless they broke it down by school district instead the whole state you won't see the real picture

Nearly every black school is in the hood, where students have to walk through metal detectors when they enter, have old ass desk, old ass books, old ass everything

poor nutrition, and dealing with life problems that come with living in poverty, and you expect these students to be able to concentrate in school, especially when they have teachers who don't even want to be there

Huh, the data suggests income as being the greatest predictor of SAT scores and some coli members with no studies and no numbers say the opposite... Hmm, who to believe? Really, the data points to what should be obvious, and remedial ass coli members are going to come in and show us why we definitely need a serious approach to education reform.


The irony here is that the people suggesting narratives opposite of the data would also perform poorly on the SAT.

They've changed that approach with this common core shyt. Common Core is designed to teach kids how to think vs just memorizing shyt. Problem is if you don't have parents that were that great in school to begin with, how are they going to help their kids learn this new common core approach. shyt, I had to do a lot of double takes myself trying to help my kids with their common core schoolwork on some is this shyt?
