The strip malls is where people are at especially in the suburbs

Many suburban people have given up going to the big ass malls dealing with all these people congested in the area and dealing with traffic and bullshyt

You’re using the Mall of America as an example. That is the exception. I’m talking about your regular ass mall 20 years ago.
Mall of America was 32 years ago. You think mall design just stagnated for a whole decade after?

Did you really not see basic stuff like movies or rides in any mall in 2004?

And if you look at the actual numbers, online shopping still has a way to go to really threaten in store shopping.

we gotta tell the whole story if we gonna tell it local breh…..

the one in decline in NL…. A lot that decline was due to the violence and shootout there :russ:

They honestly never should’ve closed Eastland:mjpls:
Absolutely right lol. I mean every city has the “hood mall” Eastland closed before I moved here so I never had a chance to see it. Somehow Northlake ended up becoming the hood mall which is sad cause the area seems really nice to me. I just want them to take that shot away from Concord Mills:mjpls:

I’m going to let people think they’re only winning by shopping online lol. I got a few spots that I can hit up and get shyt on the low that I know is cheaper than online. I’ll keep them to myself though since folks rather shop online :russ:

In high school we go to malls to see and talk to girls from other schools.

Those days are never coming back

Homie used to do that. But I didn't have a mouthpiece like that so I mostly hung out in the food court doing homework or window shop games.

I only see big malls still popping but only on weekends , black Friday and Christmas seasons.

Small malls are always dead over here

Wtf. You are taking pieces of what I am saying, and using that to represent an entire argument. I said more malls have been building more entertainment spaces to stay relevant over the last 20 years, not that there arent already some malls out there don’t already have them.

Using the Mall of America (which I’m very aware of) as a basis of your argument is in bad faith as that mall was built to be more unique and a differentiator. How many malls do you know have not one, but two 10+ story hotels?

I honestly think the online shopping killed malls. I think it was planned as well. I think the elite want the people to stay inside and be controlled through algorithms. They don’t want people lined up outside 5:30 am waiting on Jordans to drop and all that. I remember the mall used to be the hangout spot. They don’t want people hanging around taking up space.
Online shopping and the emergence of lifestyle centers or outdoor malls started to make indoor malls obsolete. There was a trend in the 2000s that street front shopping districts was making a bit of a comeback. It cooled off now but more are still opening up.

But big malls like Tysons in the DC area, Aventura in Miami, or the Galleria in Houston are still popular. But those small malls with little luxury are struggling to hold on.

The scale of which they have the entertainment options is what makes the MOA unique, not that they had enterrainment options in the 1st place.

There’s a mall not to far from me that’s considered dead or dying. Almost all the stores sell $300 jeans, $100 t shirts, and all the hypebeast shoes.
Macys and JC Penny stay busy year round.

I always wonder how is this mall dead, but these stores are thriving?
