How did Drake end up on “Versace”?
Drake ran into them at the Birthday Bash [Atlanta radio concert], which is a, you know, New York has a Summer Jam. And I think 2 Chainz was bringing them out that day, if I’m not mistaken. But we had just put out Y.R.N., which was the first mixtape that was put out when we signed the guys. We dropped it on that Tuesday, Birthday Bash was that Saturday, and Drake walks right up to me, “Hey, Coach, is this your group? Man, I’ve been listening for the last four days!” And he quoted a lyric off of one of the songs. And then like, a week later, he reached out and was like, man, I want to jump on one of those records. And we wasn’t even thinking about him jumping on “Versace,” but he sent the verse back on that song."

Being bought out at Birthday Bash by 2Chainz,Drake fanboying. Does this sound like a group that had no motion prior to Drake:mjlol:? Literally said they werent even thinking about Drake jumping on that record because that record didnt need to be worked and needed zero help.

Coach K said Drakes impact was every body started biting the flow because Drake did:mjlol:

When Drake jumped on and adopted that triplet flow, that was a big moment.
It was such a big moment. I mean, at that moment, that rap pattern, that cadence changed hip-hop, because Drake being the big artist that is — shyt, he’s the biggest, right? With him coming in and adopting that flow, I watched the whole rap culture take that cadence. I’m not even gonna lie — me and Pee, we was getting a little angry. Because a lot of artists that was on bigger levels was getting all the praise. But this was these boys’ shyt, you know what I’m saying? So we had to swim through that shyt.

Drake inspired the sharking of the flow of a generation:wow:. But thats about it.

fukkin Problems was the biggest record both Rocky and Kendrick had at that time and guess who was on it? Swimming Pools didn’t chart anywhere as high as fukkin Problems did for Kendrick.
Kendrick's top charting singles was Money Trees and bytch Don't Kill My Vibe on GKMC.

The biggest misconception of the "Drake put nikkaz on" narrative is that they think those rappers owe Drake undying loyalty because they'll never be hot without him. In actuality, Drake benefited from almost every collaboration he's done just as much as the artists he co-signed.

Drake did give Kendrick more promo, but Drake been trying to get features with Cali rappers Like Kendrick, Tyga, The Game, and YG. That was also when Hyphy got really popular on the net and radio.

While The Weeknd was underground, he did have a following, especially in Toronto. The Weeknd's production was more eerie but more enticing than Drake's production and he wanted the sound. That's why he wanted Abel to give up his songs to put it on Take Care. Then Drake did more features with him on 'Thursday' and 'Kiss Land" . Both of them were highly praised for being the new duos putting Toronto on the map. BOTH. The Weeknd then signed with Republic Records and Drake got mad because he wanted him to sign with OVO. I don't care what anybody says, Abel was smart and took his own route. He would not be getting #1s being under Drake.

Drake fans will deny this all they want, but if it wasn't for Future, he wouldn't get further with his career. Future was already heavy in Atlanta and Drake completely changed his style to copy Future's drip.

Kendrick - Was popping with Section 80 regionally. He would have popped regardless. Drake took him on the tour because he seen what everyone else see.
Rocky - Was popping with Peso and Purple Swag. He would have popped regardless. Drake took him on the tour because he seen what everyone else see.
Migos - Was popping regionally before Versace. They would have popped regardless. Drake hopped on Versace because of how hot the song was.
Future - I can't believe I even have to explain this one. Future was popping more so due to his relation to Gucci than Drake. Future been popping Dirty Sprite.
Lil Baby- He popped because of Young Thug and partially Gunna. Too Hard was his mixtape that got his name really known.
21 Savage - He was a platinuim selling artist before him and Drake even made a damn song with Savage Mode. He can thank Metro more than Drake and even before that Sonny Digital supplied him with the beat to make Red Opps. His debut single in the Free Guwap EP.
Young Thug - Thug been poppng since Hookah. His antics and proximity with RG is when he popped.

All in all, Drake didn't really help these people. They were going to be big regardless based on their previous success.

damn breh you typed all of that and failed to understand the OP.

OP literally said "Is helped put on more rappers then his elders." and "I can’t front the boy did help a lot of nikkaz."

not that they wouldn't have popped or not without drake. that he helped them. and theres no doubt he helped them.

Kendrick had no organic motion, but you cant compare that to the likes of Migo and Future.

What demographic are yall implying Drake exposed these nikkas too? The streets:mjlol:?

To casuals? To mainstream hiphop fans? Think its safe to say thats a lie because Migos wasnt popular like that right after Versace remix. And Future didnt blow up after Tony Montanna remix.

Your talking about a time where every time a random nikka in ATL made a semi popular hit or had any kinda buzz, you had to hear about him being "the next". Yet yall wanna pretend these dudes needed Drake to get traction going smh. No,Drske heard about or saw the traction and got in early.

Worst part is yall disrespecting the old school:scust:
Another smart poster admitting kbot is an industry plant :banderas: :ahh:

fukking Problems peak position on the charts when it came out was 3. Money trees peaked at 35 and bytch don’t kill my vibe was 9. Drake gave him his biggest hit at that time until humble.

Like I said Kendrick is a better rapper to me than Drake but I can’t deny facts.

95% of these people had motion prior to drake wave riding

if you want to say he helped them crossover from black only audiences to cacs then cool

but non blacks exposing themselves
