There is Heavy Machinery who are a fun big man duo, GFW has Kongo Kong who's a monster and Fallah Bahh, Beer City Bruiser and Shane Taylor in ROH. They just lack the height of their fat fukk forefathers like Yoko, Vicera, and King Kong Bundy were like 6ft 6 and taller.

Also Jeff Cobb and Keith Lee. This thread doesnt make sense since "hoss wrestling" has come back in a big way in the past two years.

Honestly, it's better now in terms of big bruiser ugly looking motherfukkers.

They have the wyatts, Braun, Owens, even Brock kinda fits the bill. For a while, it was all these tanned in shape dudes.

You need big fat walls of mass like earthquake. Difference between Owens and them, is that they were monsters. HUGE dudes that were threatening, but at the same time (and this is important), no kid wants to be Earthquake. Perfect heels.

Where-as 1998-2000 Kane was also big and menacing, but he was jacked and looked cool. People will get behind that. No one is gonna wanna live through fat ass Earthquake or King Kong Bundy.

100% agree wrestling needs more guys like that. Even Bret has said so.

Exactly, you need the big fat giant nikkas. Being big and fat was their gimmick.

Owens and Joe don't fit the bill. They're small fat dudes.. at least Joe doesn't try to hide it like Owens does, but still Joe is just too small height and appearance wise to really be at that level.

Also Owens isnt a “big fat guy”so to speak...he looks like a chubby 3rd grader on his way to play dodgeball in gym class...now it seems they would rather have “monster” types like Braun than a king kong bundy/earthquake/shockmaster type.

Strongman/weightlifting competitors are the way to go, Henry, Braun and Rusev are proof the talent is there from those backgrounds. Previous era's you would pick up the football linemen who weren't good enough to get drafted or ones who retired early with knee injuries, nowadays those type of injuries are no longer career ending. There are also alot more ways to make money, as oppose to the 70's, 80's and 90's like reality TV shows, or if they drop enough weight go fight in MMA.

Athletes generally also take better care of themselves in today's world, then in previous era's.

Most guys on the indies arent much bigger than that. Nor are they throwing around 350lb guys like he is either. Hoss is a style not a height.


If were talking about WWE, its mainly because Vince isnt in that phase right now. Its been bodybuilders mostly for the past 10 years. Guys like Vader, Yokozuna and even Mark Henry and Big Show have been repeatedly told to lose weight by Vince during their respective careers. The further the WWE moves along, the further they try to get away from the "carny look".

I'm talking about Earthquake, Tugboat, Bam Bam Bigelow, etc. status. True fat fukks.

I know WWE still has a fat slob on the roster in Kevin Owens, but the difference is with those guys back in the day, being a big fat guy basically WAS their gimmick. They were these gigantic larger than life dudes, while KO look like he should be working the overnight shift at Target.

It's crazy that in the era where appearance seems to mean LESS than ever, there's like no big gigantic fat asses in the wrestling world anymore. When I was a kid these dudes seemed like MONSTERS that it was impossible to ever defeat.

I was talking about tall guys too but I basically asked this same question a few months ago.
