Do we really wana pay a max corner? :patrice:
Apparently we ain't paying shyt for anybody :shaq2:

I just don't understand what we're doing. We're obviously not going to be competitive this year. So what, we're hoping to build solely through the draft? What's the point in even having that 50 mil in cap space? I mean, not only did we not go after tier 1 FAs, we didn't go after tier 2 FAs either. Do they not know there's a cap floor? I just don't get what the plan is to become a contending franchise again.

Isn't there like a penalty for not reaching the cap floor?

Anyway I'm not surprised by this. I doubt the niners were ever a serious contender for Norman. I'm pretty sure people like Maiocco have said the 49ers philosophy is that they dont want to make an outsider the highest paid player on the team. They rather re-sign their own and go after second tier FAs, but shyt we haven't even been doing that this offseason. :francis:

BTW whose worth extending on this team Hyde, Lynch, Reid. Who else?

For the folks being iffy about spending too much money on Norman (and honestly, seems the Redskins spent wayyy too much on him) do you realize we are gonna end up spending a lot of money anyway, and non of those player are gonna be as good as Norman is in his position? Seems we are in a lose-lose position once again :ninercry:

yo, what are the consequences for not spending you full salary cap?

does it even matter?

does the $ go back into ownerships pocket?

if we don't max out the cap, what does that mean fir next year?

There is a cap floor, but apparently it's spread out over the 4 year period of 2013-2017. If a team doesn't spend 89% of its cap over that cumulative period, then they have to pay the league the difference. For us, not spending this year means we'll have to make up that spending next year.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
that is a lot, depends on the guaranteed money though
50 million

Cornerback Josh Norman wasn’t a free agent for long.

Two days after the Panthers rescinded the franchise tag they’d placed on Norman, he agreed to terms with the Redskins Friday evening. Norman arrived at Redskins headquarters for a visit Friday afternoon.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Norman will sign a five-year deal worth $75 million that includes a whopping $50 million guaranteed.

One of the game’s top cornerbacks, Norman, 28, is coming off his best season. The Panthers made the surprising decision to make him a free agent because they believed they wouldn’t be able to agree to on a long-term contract. He would have made almost $14 million in 2016 had he signed his franchise tender.

The Saints reportedly made a late push but would have had to a do a bunch of fancy accounting to create the cap room to come anywhere close to the money Norman is getting from the Redskins.

At least we're tops in the league when it comes to cap space. :blessed:
