this thread turned out diff from what i expected. almost everyone i know in real life thinks meek is GOOD/GREAT and BETTER than gibbs. of course i'm talking about college age kids though so i wouldn't expect them to know any better.

This track is better than anything Meek has ever done and I think Meek is a beast

Meek just has the better machine behind him at the moment

lol @ people purposely ignoring certain posts.

and if you think that gibbs would be as big as meek if he was on MMG, then youre living in your own world and dont understand music.

man, i like gibbs more than meek. but something tells me that if i stay in this thread too long, im gonna end up not checkin for gibbs' chit ever again. the internet has a way of making people sour on certain rappers. please dont make gangsta gibbs that guy. PLEASE DONT. i plead to you people.

a LOT of people only check for people on MMG cuz of ross. most people didn't know who stalley was until he signed with MMG. would gibbs be AS BIG as meek on MMG? i doubt it unless he made at least a few poppin bottles songs.

^ive been down with stalley for a couple years now, but dude is still not poppin yet. he has the same online fans now that he did in 2010 & 2011. sure, more people know who he is now, but hes yet to capitalize. on the solo tip, meek & ross are the only ones thats making waves. and wale is doing his thing with his newfound female fanbase. thats it.

acting like ross is making meek's career is crazy. ross dont even move units like that. meek's been putting out bigger songs than ross for over a year now. and his mixtape was just as big as ricky's.

meek already had local/regional hits for days before MMG. thats why ross signed him. all he needed was an outlet. easy money. now ask yourself what has gibbs ever done to make you think he would have similar success if he was on MMG.

poppin bottles songs? we gonna front and act like "tupac back" & "im a boss" are poppin bottles songs?:comeon:

Put both them nikkas in the same booth, Gibbs would erase Meek Mill from planet earth.

negative,
Gibbs is a good rapper but Meek came up tearin rappers up in the streets.
and as far as storytelling and being one-sided, Meek has similar tracks but you all only hear the "Tupac Back"s and the "Black Magic"s.

Now if Gibbs got that major exposure he'd make the same kind of music, so stop wit that noise. Only difference is he wouldn't sound as good doing it :skip:

:why:

meek had a boatload of club bangers & radio hits long before he got down with rick ross. that how he got his deals with tip and ross in the 1st place. we've been telling yall this for years.

duke couldve easily blew up years ago if he had an outlet, but the rap industry currently has a "no niccas" contract. luckily, ross & jeezy threw theirs in the bushes.

i prefer gibbs but no.

meek was bigger than gibbs before either of them had deals.

and how can you try to give the credit to ross on the slick, when meek's songs have been bigger than ross' songs for the past year now, as soon as meek got on.

meek has the IT factor and even tho hes hit-or-miss to me, he knows how to make THAT song.

all this,
meek was on the verge of blowin up around 18-19 but he went to prison. And thats when he was dropped from Grand Hustle, if my memory serves me right.
cant build on your buzz behind bars :yeshrug:
but as soon as he got out he kept it up, so essentially he overlapped Gibbs in terms of a career.
