On the real how is MEEK MILLZ considered BETTER than FREDDIE GIBBS?

B.o.B and Wiz Khalifa are on Atlantic. So was Plies, Flo-Rida and Lupe who went gold. Def Jam ain't broke a new rap artist that went gold since Ross.

Lupe came out 6 years ago. Flo Rida's big but he actually doesn't sell albums at all. He hasn't sold 500K of any album he's put out (Mail On Sunday was close). He just sells singles at a historic rate. If we're gonna use Flo Rida as an example of breaking an artist then Def Jam has broken artists who have had big singles too. Plies? Let's just say he had a nice run, but it's over. Def Jam at this point is putting the building behind 2 Chainz and Big Sean. Look at them now. In 7 months, Def Jam has put out 4 albums (Big KRIT, Frank Ocean, Rick Ross, and Nas, 5 in 8 months if you wanna include 2 Chainz).

I don't wanna get into a Def Jam vs. Atlantic pissing match because frankly I don't care. I'm just saying a lot of people think all these majors suck and have a gripe against them all. In Freddie Gibbs' case, he actually has nothing to do with Def Jam, so they're not responsible for Gibbs. Jeezy is.

I haven't been impressed by shyt Def Jam has done for at least 5 years besides Rihanna. Atlantic is a much better label for rappers. As for Meek vs. Gibbs, Meek is more youth orientated while Gibbs is more geared towards fans 25 and up that can remember when hiphop was good. Meek caters more to the swag generation as opposed to the substance generation.

not saying that i agree with them but i understand.

meek is the 1st rapper to blow up big in A LONG TIME with an authentic buzz and legitimate stripes in this rap game. none of that industry plant or pop-rap bullchit. hes sort of like a mainstream savior in a way. i understand wholeheartedly why hes held in such high regard with the early 20s & under crowd.
