It also doesnt work because Barb and Opp are both movies that can pull from the adult demographic, while Paw Patrol is only gonna have adults whos children drag them to it.

Box office in general fell the hell off in Sept. per usual but some bad flops. We saw 'The Creator' the other night. I thought it was decent. Not many people went to see it though obviously.

Would have liked The Creator do a little better, did okay overseas. Hopefully it chugs along over the next few weeks. Have to root for original films.
When I went to go see it at AMC, saw a lot of kids with parents and Paw Patrol merchandise. Not surprised it was #1.

'The Exorcist' Makes a 'Believer' out of Many a Moviegoer: Weekend Box Office Results (Oct. 6-8)
David Gordon Green is back for his 3rd October horror movie release in the last 3 years with The Exorcist: The Believer. Of course, last year it was the horrific Halloween Ends, which was preceded by Halloween Kills. Both of those movies were simultaneously released on Peacock, which is how I watched em.
Not the case with the new Exorcist which opened at #1 with $27.2M. That's 90.7% of the $30 million production budget which Universal will gladly take. But you also got a factor in that they just pay $400 million for the right to this franchise.
The Exorcist: Believer is part of a disturbing downward trend for David Gordon Green and his Universal horror movies. See for yourself:
That's 4 movies with declining openings, release over release. Like I said earlier, the Peacock release definitely ate into Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends' box office openings and that was not the case with The Exorcist: Believer. That's why you can have an $11.8M opening Friday for The Exorcist and still get up to $27.2M. Because it only fell by 23.6% on Saturday when it put up $9M. Halloween Ends fell by 36% went from $20.3M on its opening Friday to $13M on Saturday. The Exorcist has even worse word of mouth with a C CinemaScore to Halloween Ends' C+. A C+ for that shyt ?

Holding steady was the PAW Patrol sequel with $11.7 mill. That -48.4% drop was a slightly better hold than PAW Patrol: The Movie's $6.6M, -49.4% second weekend hold. With $38.8M after 2 weekends, The Mighty Movie has almost passed PAW Patrol: The Movie's $40.1M total.
Saw X had a solid -55.5% horror hold and took 3rd place with $8.1M.
With $32.5M it passes Spiral's (the last Saw movie) $23.2M total. 
The Creator created $6M in ticket sales and is up to $24.9M after two weeks. That's right in line with Disney's (20th Century) A Haunting in Venice's $6.3M 2nd weekend. Disney basically produced 2 identically performing movies in the last month.
Rounding out the top five with $3.9M was The Blind. That sentence woulda rhymed if not for the M in the $3.9.
What's more impressive is that the movie was up 12.9% over last weekend while playing in 401 fewer theaters. 
Notables
Disney put Hocus Pocus in 1,430 theaters for its 30th anniversary and it made the top ten with $1.5M.
Expend4bles finished with $1M as it finished in 11th place after taking 9th last week. Fell from top ten to not mentioned at all.

If This Was a Movie? 'The Eras Tour' is and it's #1: Weekend Box Office Results (Oct. 13-15)
Taylor Swift's concert film, The Eras Tour, is finally here. And, no, it's not the biggest October movie ever like the prognosticators thought it would be. It was damn close though, with $96M. I saw stories last week asking if it was gonna have a better opening than Barbie's $162M. Then it went down to $130M. Then down to $120M. Then it was $109M. Then they smartened up and dropped it to the low to mid $90M's. They were so desperate for the next megahit that they were gonna will it to happen, to no avail.
Just because it's not as big as it could a been doesn't mean it's a failure. As it stands, it's the 2nd biggest October opening ever, behind the $96.2M of 2019's Joker. It's far and away the biggest concert / performance movie, eclipsing the $73M total of Justin Bieber's Never Say Never. Swifties > Beliebers.
Speaking of Beliebers, The Exorcist: Believer, brought in $11 million to take second place. That was a 58.5% drop which is a great horror hold but this had bad word of mouth so I'ma chalk it up to Taylor Swift's The Era's Tour being the only new release and we still in Spooky Season when moviegoers should be a lil more inclined to see horror movies. That $11M was up 37.5% over Halloween Ends' $8M second weekend. But, with a $44.9M running total, Exorcist is 16.8% behind Halloween Ends' $54.9M after the two weeks.

Ho hum, another $7 million for PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. That makes $49.8M after 3 weeks. It passed PAW Patrol: The Movie's $40.9M total on the 9th.
A $5.7M 3rd weekend helped Saw X finish in 4th place. With a $41.4M running cume, the 10th film in the Saw franchise, passes Jigsaw's $38M total. Next up is the $45.3M brought in by Saw 3D.
The Creator closed out the top five with $4.3M. It's up to $32.4M after 3 weeks which is 2.5% ahead of 20th Century's A Haunting in Venice, which had made $31.6M, and is currently sitting at $38.9M after five weeks.
Notables
The Nun ll is up to $83.7M. It'll pass Annabelle's $84.2M total this week to move into the top 5 of The Conjuringverse.
The 30th Anniversary re-release of Hocus Pocus made another $896K and has totaled $3.2M after 2 weeks.
Barbie ($485K) in its 13th weekend, finished ahead of Expend4bles ($361K) which is only in its 4th weekend and already on demand.

Two (Weeks at #1) Is Better Than One for Taylor Swift: Weekend Box Office Results (Oct. 20-22)
Taylor Swift's The Era's Tour is two for two and #1 with $31M, holding off Marty, Bobby Milk and Leo. Guess that makes Taylor the Killer of the Flower Moon.
That's a $129.7M running total after 2 weekends. That's weekends, not weeks, cuz Taylor's movie only plays Thursday - Sunday.That makes The Era's Tour the 16th highest grossing movie released this year, blonde past Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem's $118.5M. Fast X ranks 15th with $145.9M.
Martin Scorsese scores a 2nd place debut with Killers of the Flower Moon opening to $23M. In a vacuum, that's a terrible opening for the $200M budgeted prestige drama from Apple. But they'll tell us it's about advertising for Apple TV+ like Air did for Prime Video. And if it can get some awards (it got an A- CinemaScore) then Apple TV+ can proudly tout that like these streamers do when shows and movies win Oscars and Emmy's. At least it beat Wolf of Wall Street's $18.4M opening. Of course, that was 10 years ago, and it opened in 2,537 theaters to Killers of the Flower Moon's 3,628.
The Exorcist: Believer took 3rd with $5.6M. With $54.2M, it becomes the 2nd highest grosser in The Exorcist franchise. It obviously ain't catching the original's $230.9M. It also passes Talk To Me ($48.2M) to become the 6th highest grossing horror movie of the year.
PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie dropped to 4th place with $4.4M. It's tallied $56M after four weeks.
What's this? What's this? 5th place belongs to a newcomer from 30 years ago, which was just on ABC, The Nightmare Before Christmas, with $4.1M. That's more than the $3.2M the Hocus Pocus 30th Anniversary re-release grossed in 2 weeks. It's a classic for a reason.

Decent start for Killers of the Flower Moon, I can see it sticking around for a while.
Next week it seems like Five Nights at Freddy's is going to be #1, even with a Peacock release. I've heard of the game, but didn't realize it was that big with the kids.
