they're going to get a lot of positive press from mainstream media outlets, my only thing is it's clear and obvious pandering because that aside... nyla rose isn't even good in the ring

botched the fukk out of that cartwheel and doesn't really do anything special, whereas the other lgbt talent sonny kiss despite peoples feelings on his very un-harlemlike tendencies... the guy is obviously very good at his job so him having success(in the mens division) would at least be more convincing from a talent standpoint.. if nyla was good it'd seem like less of an obvious pandering attempt

so yeah the way society is heading I think the positive reception from the masses will overshadow the outrage from the wrestling community.. not to mention it'll only be a segment of wrestling fans/wrestlers who complain because a lot of people won't wanna speak their mind and seem problematic/get blackballed or whatever

It’s not “regressive” because they are acknowledging her as a woman as she wants to be acknowledged. It’s incredibly progressive.

It’s scripted TV though. It’s not like they are letting a transgender woman actually fight and compete against women. Its no more or less progressive than Chyna winning the IC title.

These are matches with planned outcomes. Remember that :yeshrug:

No one thinks Riho has a shot at winning? They already have a heel champ with Jericho and tag tournament is gonna last for the first month or so.

Is Rose the champion yet?

If she's not, this thread is just moral panic. Who says she doesn't just lose to the lil joshi on some David and goliath shyt?
Riho already rolled up Nyla for a win at Fyter Fest.

And especially considering how Nyla survived the entire Women's Casino Battle Royale...

...it would be completely idiotic booking for her to lose.

The writing is on the wall.

I’m not inherently against Nyla Rose becoming Women’s champ at some point.

But (s)he needs to get better in the ring, and a proper story/build-up around he(r), be it as a sympathetic face or a monster heel, would make better sense. Right now she’s simple AEW’s Nia Jax.

Kong needs that belt first. She’s established, she has the GLOW thing going so that helps with pub, and she’s interested in helping out the other ladies and the division altogether. And who knows how long she’s gonna compete in the ring, so knock that outta the way right quick.

And if Mercedes Martinez isn’t yet signed they need to stop playing and present that contract

It's progressive and AEW will be praised for it and the live crowd will continue to give their forced golf claps so they don't seem like monsters but wrestlers who fans feel obligated to cheer for never truly get over. It's like when TNA was signing veterans and war heroes to be wrestlers and they'd get their lukewarm respectable claps but nobody really fukked with them.

I don’t get the pandering if (s)he wins the belt. What do they hope to get but a few more press headlines? They already have good press tho. :dwillhuh:

I doubt they’re gonna bring in the LBGT community to watch this. They’ll probably just :ehh: and KIM. :mjlol:

The stoop with dat dope fanny padding
Question.

Is it more progressive to have your inaugural women's champion be trans than it is regressive to not have someone born a physical woman be the first woman to hold the title for your company in an era of resurgent women's wrestling? Especially with a host of available joshi and a whole indy scene of women doing big things waiting in the wings.

Do you help more than you hurt by doing this? I know it'll get you a bunch of press coverage, but I also know there are gonna be some women that are in their feelings about that shyt. I think the byline is too impressive to the company to resist doing it, but I... I dunno. I would think you'd have Nyla supplement the division as opposed to anchoring it.

(Riho is sub 100lbs. She could sling her whole body weight at most people and be shrugged the fukk off. I can't suspend disbelief that much. There are mid-sized dogs that could pin that girl for a count of 10.)

It’s a touchy subject but to me the gender you were born as is the gender you should compete as. To each their own, but transgender wrestler is not something I’m interested in seeing.

Seeing the blowback resonate this opinion a lot, they may actually decide to change course.

Even the wrestlers weren't shy about questioning her:

honestly fukk who it offends :yeshrug:

watching a morbidly obese man (and reckless worker at that) throw real women around like that isn't cool :francis:

what fukkin world are we living in these days? :hhh:

some people telling the public to just turn a blind eye and accept all of this bullshyt :scust:
