He does hold 11 "design patents". But design patents are not patents on technology, a requirement of the "design patent" is that you're merely patenting a particular aesthetic design that has no use. In Terrence Howard's case, he's patenting various shapes he made with pieces of plastic glued together. His wife stated in a an interview that he sometimes makes her work on these things with her up to 17 hours a day.
You can see an example of those patents here. They're literally just.....pretty shapes. That's the only things he's ever gotten any patents approved for.
