Biggest problem I've experienced first hand with Retail/Restaurant Managers is that most of them ain't got nothin more than a high school diploma and get huge power trips over bossing their subordinates around. Their subordinates are really the ones who are trying to further their education and will eventually pass up their bosses once they move on from the side hustle.

The worst part of a retail job is (usually) the people managing you are so fukking negative. NONE of these motherfukkers use any type of positive motivation techniques at all. And when I say "managing" this includes anybody with ANY type of perceived authority, since usually in this type of job there are numerous levels of "supervisors", not to mention anybody with any longevity at the job thinks they're a supervisor as well, even though none of these people are really "above" you.

Enjoying reading this thread, this is a 100% real thread. Never done retail myself and never hope to do it, but this type of thing is what typical people go through each day.

Never worked in that environment at all, sounds awful, but it's really just capitalism at it's worst/best, right? Corporate jobs are similar, my boy worked at Chase for a year, quit, said it was brainwashing him lol. A lot of it was exact same complaints as I read in here.

The guys working at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc, etc, are who I feel sorry for, in a way even if they are extra aggressive, bothering me, trying to get their cut, it's how the employment structure is set up, I don't even know if they get ANYTHING besides commission. I could never do a job like that, not pride, I just know I couldn't make it, I am too shy and self conscious to ask people 3x in 15 minutes if they need help, I want to just hand them $40 and tell them I'll bring my shyt to the counter when I'm ready.

best advice is try to get sum clean piss and apply for a federal govt type jobs that dont require degrees or hs diplomas just got to have a clean record and network. you really gotta kiss ppl asses and play phony in order to get on in this world which im just now figuring out ima dboy/rapper ex athlete n ive been learning new shyt at 24 now because all i knew was basketballl n drugs/gangs

post office ie fed ex,manufactoring companies, warehouse factories(jobs start at $14hr and increase every yr)
city jobs(garbage man,security,crossing gaurd etc)
govt jobs(operator,911 dispatcher etc)
culinary school(avg chefs gets paid (60k a yr)

or

trap
pimp
rob
scam
entertainment

i figured shyt out my sophmore yr in college playing basketball that the nba wasnt lookin realistically because i kept getting in bs
almost gettin booked wit work, rape case, not gettin transcrpts sent at the rite time to play d1 basketball, using my uncle's basketball connects wasnt working i said fuk skool n basketball n started juggin working trappin n rapping. i was getting so mad and frusrtated seeing ppl i was better than playing in the nba overseas in ncaa tourney final fours shyt hurts yo soul because u worked so hard n ppl depending on you to get em out the hood and u cant catch a break because of random situations and poor decisions. gotta get off yo ass if u wanna get rich everybody dont get lucky. its a money out here for errbody to make and get u just gotta figure out :mindblown: den u can make a profit off that idea. im using music to open doors for other avenues

Nah retail def aint the move, only way to make any decent bread is to become management.

You better off waiting tables or hitting a warehouse or something...

retail is crazy because regular employees get paid nothing....but leadership/management get overpaid, and bonuses

this shocked me too.. this older dude I worked with told me his wife worked at KFC for like 15 years and I was like... :heh:... and he was like... no, she's a regional manager... she makes well over 100k....

he said she did start out like everyone else but she went to school and all these other lil company leadership courses and came the fukk up.

I'm looking like.. maybe i've put my eggs in the wrong basket.

Temp jobs are the usually the only way to break through. Agencies should tell you how likely you are to get hired before sending you. Just make yourself valuable from the jump and a supervisor will do what he can to hire you. You get good overtime in a warehouse too.

Alright, thanks.

I think you should only work retail/restaurants if you're in school or just as a second job (short term or seasonal). Otherwise, don't waste your time in that bullshyt! Don't be 30 years old and settling for an assistant manager position at Foot Locker....aspire to be more...

If the money is low and/or you're not a 4 year college type, you're better off going to trade school, community college, or the military.

Well, right now I'm trying to save up money because I have quite a few things that I need to get; a car (because the one have is old), school (paying for classes), and an apartment. I'm trying to get as much money as I can as fast as I can working two jobs. But the plan is to get back in school so that I can have an occupation and apply for other jobs outside of retail.
