Ingenious samplin/loopin, f*ck.......

Gotdaman, pops had both those Sly and The Fam albums....You gotta love them 60's and 70's funk and soul albums man even 80's sh1t.

It makes you appreciate hip hop music so much more and vice versa, I know it does for me personally. So many dope samples and loops used throughout the years.

Props to the Gawd James Brown, a lotta of the classic hits came from that man's music and band.

What's crazy is how I don't hear no one flipping samples better than they were and we have ABLETON. You can do so much with that shyt and get really creative and NOT have to pay for samples because if they don't know what it is, you don't have to pay. shyt I was flipping samples on my Yamaha su-10 better then these cats now and I payed $175 for it. It had filter, you could play the samples in different pitches BUT if you know what you're doing you can alter the key of the sample, and resample at different bits and you could put it in your pocket and this was '97. That is still my baby and most people don't know about it. I think the lack of being creative is from the lack of a lot of producers being good DJ's because being a DJ allows you to hear things a regular producer might not hear and having access to so much tools whereas I had to make use of EVERYTHING I had from the mixer, and turntables to the drum machine and the sampler so I had to be creative. The weed and being in a dark, small room also helped. Also living life also helped because I absorbed everything around me and put it to music, being a star wasn't what I thought about.

When I made music I would imagine how people on the radio, the streets and hip hop music lovers would feel not the check. I might get back into this shyt and show young nikkas how to do this but let them get the props and be the man behind the scenes, I don't need the fame.

This is making me want to break out some of my VHS tapes from back when i was at Howard University, and we had the Hip-Hop Conference back in the early 90's. Marley Marl (and his manager at the time) sat on a panel about producing and I have the whole panel on tape.

he was a real cool dude, real down to earth. Thanks for posting this!

one of the best threads..i would love to hear pete and large proff..
i would even love to hear rza doing this ..even though i know plenty from his sessions.

I don't think Pete or Rza would ever do it. To this day they're still very secrative. LP might. He almost doesn't even care. He's so humble if you know him. He almost doesn't get that anyone would even care or want to hear it.

Yes i have it the book right here. The machines and very very obvious records he has no problems. But trust me if you have ever tried to deal with Rza he is very very protective of his multitracks. I'm sure he has no problem showing off post wu forever stuff. A lot of his old stuff still has parts which weren't cleared. I'm with you though. I'd give anything for his to sit down and do this with some Cuban Linx beats. :ohlawd:
