It’s kinda surprising that this song wasn’t a #1 hit on the Hot 100. It peaked at #3.

I remember those days this song played almost fukking everywhere... the thing is it was catchy, fire and the beat was sick at the same time. the song wasnt corny at all... :manny: one of those hits that will go down in history as being a club banger of it's time....

Hotline Bling is a good comparison

Only difference is Drake was already a huge popstar before Hotline Bling

Sisqo was popular in the R&B world before Thong Song but that was his huge crossover pop hit

Its one of those timeless songs that white people will forever love and play at parties like Nelly - Hot in Here

Song was bananas at the time. I was in my senior year of high school and it damn near changed everything.....not to mention No Limit, Cash Money, and Ruff Ryders (among others) were ushering in a new wave of black excellence......the game changed forever :obama:

I don't know what timeline you grew up in but No Limit was dead and gone when the Thong Song came out :mjlol:

Now lemme preface this by saying I'm no young blood myself but I still remember this being ALL OVER the damn radio and MTV...but I wasn't able to hit up the clubs (I was 12 :martin:) and truly experience the debauchery that would come with a record of this type...were the ladies really bussin it open like that in these establishments? Was that entire "Unleash the Dragon" album getting play? Did it bump in the whip?:ohhh:

I was just in the beginning stages of beating my meat to the other blassic videos of the day like that first Jennifer Lopez joint and Tip Drill, so when this came out and I saw all those fine women in the video it had me like

Lettuce discuss this and come to some kind of conclusion
You was 12 in 1999 and calling folks old heads? :comeon:

I was 12 too but even I remember how huge the song was :pachaha:

I'm weird brehs.

I was there when the following songs dropped "This Is How We Do it" by Montell Jordan, "In The Club", "Thong Song" and "Yeah" by Usher. All of them MONSTER hits and I swear I thought every single one of them songs was super corny.

Funny how none of them shyts hold up today.
