Like how the women do it?Yeah the U.S. talent advantage is finna narrow considerably. They can still win golds but it'll require a much more cohesive development/training etc., program. They figured it out between '04 and '08 but now the Millenial superstars are old. Gen Z got next.
They gotta adapt again.
These new era players—-especially guards—- were made by trainers. There is no ingenuity, nothing off script, no improvisation, no charisma. It’s the guards that are supposed to dictate an all star game but we no longer have true PGs.
Incoming rant… it’s kinda low key, but the PG position is going the way of the center. There’s a notion that the team has enough guards so they don’t need to add Brunson or Kyrie, but there are no traditional old school style/sized PGs. Steph is basically a 2. Jrue is a combo and he’s also 6’4. Halliburton is 6’5. And now Derek white who’s 6’5. There is and was space for Brunson or Kyrie.
The 08 team had cp3, Kidd, and Deron Williams.
The ‘12 team had cp3, Russ, and Deron
But now that the CAcaltyics have the game and the traditional PG archetype—-which is one position white boys can’t really play—- is being destroyed.
blind spot in the American game; there are no PGs. No one else capable of being a table setter a la Cp3, Kidd, etc
I may hate Bron and KD during the season but mayne
And seeing Steph have a breakout game
At the end of the day, they met Serbia 3 times in a few weeks and won all 3. Can't ask for much more. That said the rebounding was atrocious and the future looks bleak. Once LeBron and KD are gone it will be mighty interesting
