so is this like the NXT's NXT or something?
WWE today announced the launch of a first-of-its-kind developmental program designed to provide up-and-coming independent wrestlers a pathway to a potential career in WWE. The program will be called WWE ID, short for WWE Independent Development™.

“WWE ID is the latest in our efforts to identify and support the journey of up-and-coming wrestlers, in turn raising the profile of and strengthening the independent wrestling ecosystem,” said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

Following the 2021 launch of WWE’s NIL program, WWE ID has been constructed to support independent wrestling prospects and wrestling schools with world-class training, development and mentorship.

Under the program, WWE will provide prominent independent wrestling schools with the WWE IDofficial designation, with the goal of providing new trainees and existing talent at these select institutions with enhanced developmental opportunities. Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (Houston), Cody Rhodes’ Nightmare Factory (Atlanta), Seth Rollins’ Black and Brave Academy (Davenport, Iowa), Elite Pro Wrestling Training Center (Concord, N.H.) and KnokX Pro Academy (Los Angeles) are the first WWE ID independent wrestling schools to earn the official designation.

Additionally, WWE ID will identify top independent wrestling prospects with an official WWE ID “prospect” designation and support their developmental journey by providing financial opportunity and assisting with training, mentorship and development, including access to world-class facilities, best-in-class ring training, athletic trainers and more. WWE ID will give fans the opportunity to follow the paths of these standout prospects on the independent wrestling scene through curated, behind-the-scenes content, as well as highlights and matches showcased across WWE’s social platforms.

Or indie promotions might not want to deal with id wrestlers.
Depends on obtrusive WWE starts getting. If they don’t get any pushback from the indies, they aren’t going to stop until they fukk over the US indie scene like they did the UK indie scene.

WWE wouldn’t even care about the indie talent if their NIL program hadn’t largely been a failure up until this point. Now they just want to keep inching their way into the indie scene to try to turn into an NXT for NXT.

But like I said, they’re going to have to start paying this indie talent more if they want to lock them in.

Like being serious here, how many would seriously take the WWE stipend while still having to toil away every week on the indies to make ends meet if AEW comes calling with a contract offer well into the six figures and still have the freedom to work indies if they desire to? Especially when it’s been made abundantly clear WWE will sign any ex-AEW talent with a pulse when they become a free agent.

I still say if I’m TK I’m offering a full-time contract to one of these ID talents to make WWE go on record with how serious they are with this program.

Think how bad it’s going to make that program look if the first person to come out of it ends up in AEW because WWE didn’t want to match an offer.

On the other hand, think how good it makes the program look if the first person to come out of it is due to WWE matching a AEW offer and the talents lands at worst a minimum salary WWE contract that’s apparently around $350K.

Either way, AEW finds out how serious WWE is with this ID program and can strategize from there.
