As a whole Imperialism and Colonialism was never crippled, they were just revamped by newer colonial powers.

The Kingsmen brings up a very interesting point. However, I think it would be false to state that the relationship between former colonial powers and their colonies is nearly the same. In many cases, it is not. Even IF colonialism or even just the exercise of hegemonic power has been changed in various ways - the power that Europe once had in the world has been sharply eroded, starting with the events of August 1914.
one of the view times I will agree with @thekingsmen

Good point, colonialism evolved into neo colonialism and is still doin work today. To me the biggest legacy of the conflict was the fall of the Ottoman Empire and creation of the modern Middle East.

France continued to be a superpower after WWI and expanded their territories in the Arab Countries. Germany began to be a super-powerhouse after the first war. Britain was losing control of it's empire and only had a few places left on the map( India and China regions). Belgium continued it's powerhouse until the 1960's.

The myth of them all going under is a fairy-tale.

I don't think it's necessarily a myth of "them all going under". It's an assessment of decline in terms of share of global power and influence. My earlier comment on the first page of this thread made note that, that decline began when Europeans butchered each other by the millions between 1914 and 1918. The decline did not begin right away (also Germany was not a super power house immediately after the war), however that process began with the First World War and drastically accelerated with the inception of the second. Africans, Asians saw first hand the brutality of Western, Christian civilization and the fact that their civilizations needed the compliance of foreign lands in order to remain potent...

Again the decline was minimum because the power was placed in other superpowers hands.

Name them?

:leostare:

All European powers began to suffer a decline due to the consequences of the First World War. Also, the decline was both relative and real. For instance, Europeans were 40% of the World's population prior to the War. Multiple European wars caused by the First World War contributed to this demographic collapse. Your claim is that other states just took up the mantle of imperialism (such as the United States). Sure, I'm not disputing that. I just find it hard to believe that you think that as a result of the First World War, European power on the world-stage has remained just as dominant as it was in 1914.
