I just realized it's so hard to run a pick and roll without a lob threat. You'll get a million turnovers passing thru arms and legs
Yep or at least an arm's reach PnR finisher! That's why it never as good of a play as it is in the NBA

Clark can not be a nash/Stockton type because she cannot dribble, her IQ is low.
And she isn't a facilitator.

Her best attribute is supposed to be her shooting and she isn't exceptional at that.
If you are a shooter you can shoot at any level in any situation. She hasn't shown that.

What I'm seeing from her in the last 2 games is her playing more under control... More on the cautious side. And the games have been closer without one player having a teams worth of turnovers.

But you can't have your point guard playing cautious like that.
Shes gonna have to get in the gym in the office season, if she gets an off season, and add more to her bag.
My personal comp for Clark is Trae Young if she had LeMelo Ball body and athleticism if she was a dude. She can pass her ass off, run the PnR and really attack the paint but she can't run an offense for shyt and while her awareness is exceptional her feel for the game is lacking. She's just another Harden like Trae and Luka. It's just that big Harden, Luka is the best of them all.

Her handles aren't comparable to Trae at all. She's also severely lacking a good quick first step. But her playmaking ability is already top tier in the league. And if she gets hot from those deep 3s she creates a gravity where it opens alot of space and opportunity for others to score. There's other good shooters in the league but no one is doing that which is why she gets picked up full court. Watching her she moves in a way an NBA player does with less athleticism which is part of the initial appeal. Aja Wilson has similar movements with a little more athleticism.

But I do think comparing her to NBA players is doing her a disservice. Her skills and attributes are what make her good in her domain. People she gets compared to like Trae or Curry can pretty much do it all. There may be woman players years down the line that spring up and will truly be transcendent but for now she's capturing alot of people with things she's great at. Passing, Moving 3s and Logo Threes.

Damn...Some of you are straight haters....Coming to a conclusion on a rookie who has played through the toughest opening stretch of games in WNBA history...

"she can't dribble"
"her IQ is low"
"she isn't a facilitator"
"She can't shoot"

Saying she's playing more cautious without pointing out that she badly sprained her ankle against Indy which has clearly impacted her shooting......The brutal schedule...7 gms in 12 days when most teams will have only played 4 games

Clark is avg 17/6/5 with her defense improving every game.....Pointing out her turnovers when many of them were due to her teammates dropping the ball....Do you know what Taurasi avg her rookie season?......17/4/4....Is she not considered one of the goats

Like really?...y'all don't think Clark is going to improve?...She has a big Nike contract and other endorsement deals. She's going to work her ass off to keep the money coming in.........If she's avg 17/6/5 as a rookie. Next year she could easily avg 20/8/6..and then the year after 23/9/6.......Those are MVP caliber numbers.....Clark has improved her defense from game 1 to game 6 despite being fatigued and fighting through a sprained ankle......Some of you want to see this girl fail so badly it's sad......I want to see her thrive because every player is going to benefit financially.

We should be supporting/hoping that all of the rookies are successful

Clark's comparison is literally Sabrina Ionescu. They have the same rookie numbers so far, love shooting unorthodox threes and are average defenders.

On the game though, Sparks fumbled an easy win. Lexie was chucking shots from the logo, Nurse had looks but couldn't hit and Brink was in foul trouble. Jackson & Hamby were the only ones who could've saved the game, but it was too late. Also, Curt needs to put Jackson in the starting 5 and let her/Brink be a Kobe/Shaq duo.

Much different scenario though

* Sabrina only played 3 games as a rookie
* 2 of the 3 teams Sabrina faced as a rookie were garbage defensively
* Sabrina had time to train/rest before her rookie season due to her senior season coming to a premature end (covid)
* Clark has had no rest and is playing a brutal schedule to start the season
* Clark has faced S.Curry level of defense

The comparison is good but the scenario is much different.

True even though Sabrina's 2nd year (Technically "rookie" year) had the same numbers as Clark right now. She took a leap in 2022
