Because the W is gonna make money in the future, and you can't have a terrible basketball product.
NFL the only league where you can get away with putting on a terrible product and still have attendance/sales.
Basketball? Fans will straight up stop going to games, won't buy jerseys, stop spending money on the team in general.

When franchises are run well they make a lot of people (white peoples :/) generational money. People you never heard of.
Sports is a business and the WNBA is the new low cost high reward investment that the money people are running to, so they are taking thier product seriously now.
