I was reading that Will Ferrell wanted to play Dr Buss but McKay wasnt having it. Ended up hiring John C Reily without telling Will and it's what caused them to breakup their company and I guess they havent spoken since.

McKay made the right choice. Reily is a far better dramatic actor & can still do comedy at an extremely high level
