It is coming along. They are building roads, but I don't the trust the Chinese that are there. They need to build a bridge connecting Lungi to Freetown, because that ferry sucks. Freetown itself is a poor city, but there is a lot of stuff going on and it has a lot of potential; it is only a matter time before the Country economy really improves. They need a new airport, but for right now they just need to continue building up the infrastructure. It is a beautiful country. I could retire there, because I like beaches, mountains, historic islands and Black people.

I was most surprised by how close Guinea and Liberia are to Sierra Leone, which made it understand the Mane invasion. They are really close together and if the infrastructure re and roads improve in those Countries I really believe that African Americans should consider those 3 countries as well as Ivory Coast and Ghana as investment opportunities. It is really nice in those areas and the people were really nice.

This is good to hear. And yea Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia are right next to each other. Guinea seems to surround both countries. Anyways I remember you repeating the bolded and always found it interesting. People(ADOS) always talk about Nigeria but I feel those countries would not only(this is not a jab to Nigeria) be more welcoming to ADOS but have untapped potential.

yup, and that is how the Mande's keep power in Guinea. technically Fulani are still the majority tribe but the Mande group is divided between Mandingo and Suso. when it comes to voting, they just all vote for which over Mande has a chance of winning.
Isha Sesay is a Suso from Sierra Leone so you can bet Suso regions are near Sieera Leone border. I use to live in Nzerekore, near the Liberian border when I was young. lots of Mandingo and Kpelleh people, I'm part Kpelleh. Conakry was slightly more Fulani

I always found this weird. Fulanis dominate Nigeria politically but outside of Nigeria they seem to be dominated by other groups. However, Guinea tho parts of it was a main Mandinka stronghold especially back during the Mali empire.

Kante is a straight up Mandingo name. But she herself claimed she's Fulani. Her father probably Mandingo and mother Fulani.

but "Mariama" and "Diallo" are like the prototypical fulani names. don't know her case
Yea I get confused with them because another Coli poster said on their snapchat that they claimed Mandingo. They're probably half. Who knows? I may have to ask him again.

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
It is kind of like the name Kamara. That is a Mandingo/Mande name, but when I was in Sierra Leone I met Limba and Temne people with that name too. I think that name came from the Mane invaders and it was passed on to the coastal people. I think that the name Massaquoi is the same way.
My lil cousin with that name just got married

I always wonder where that Massaquoi name came from. 3 of my relative changed their names to when they were coming to the states from Liberia. 2 of them already had other Mande names and 1 had fulani name. I always wondered where the name came from. Ever since my Granny passed last year, I've been more interested in my family and ethnic history now. I use to speak Kpelleh with her when I was small. :to:

It is hard to determine how welcoming Nigerians really are to African Americans, because the only Nigerians that most African Americans will encounter are the ones that have immigrated to the USA. In fact it is really hard to determine anything about Africa based upon the Africans that you meet in the USA, because some of them are on front street and you are not always seeing the best representation of the real Nigeria or other African countries.

My feeling about Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea stems from the fact that a lot of African American maternal lines are from that region. So we have a strong genetic connection to that region the same way that African Americans have a strong genetic connection to the South in the USA. On top of that Sierra Leone and Liberia were areas that repatriated African American slaves. So to me Sierra Leone and Liberia are natural places for African Americans to visit and invest in.

I agree with this and actually said this.

However, many Aframs also come from Nigeria and Angola/Congo.

In my research some of the things that I have found out is that Mansa has some variations on it. Mansa in the USA became Massa, which White people probably assumed was Master. Mansa just means leader or King.

Massaquoi in my opinion is likely a variation on the title of Mansa. I have no idea what "quoi" means, but Massa is really close to Mansa. We can ask @Chief if he knows what it means, because he is from the Dan People of Liberia who are also a Mande people
