I'm actually shocked they showed Dr. Manhattan in the trailer. I'm not surprised he'll be on the show, but I would have expected them to keep something like that a secret to be a shocking reveal at the end of an episode.

I don’t quite get the point of this yet. The original story kicked off on the paranoia over a murder and a larger conspiracy. But it spans history from the 40s to Vietnam to Mars.
This just seems like a really small character study of violence in a small town.

At the end of Watchmen no one could know the trick Adrian pulled on society or his world peace mission would unravel. Before Rorschach and Night Owl went to confront him in the North Pole Rorschach mailed his diary to that right wing newspaper, and in it he revealed Adrian was behind the murders. And the last panels is the intern discovering it in the incoming mail.
So I'm assuming world peace is playing out but the contents of the diary were published and the fall out from that is what is driving the story. The cops wearing masks and what is going on with that is confusing tho.
Any breakdowns of the trailer out there yet?

But this seems to take place at least twenty years after the book ends based on how old Ozymandias is. I didn’t see any modern tech but the cars seem at least 00’s.
In Tulsa Oklahoma of all places.

Yeah, I don't know man. I'm just guessing based off the trailer. It seemed Regina King's character was referring to the diary when talking to her daughter and all the Rorschach mask guys have to be inspired by something. I'm guessing it's the diary.

I’m not doubting the connection. But if it’s twenty years and the internet wasn’t invented in this reality then Rorshach’s diary wouldn’t have been disseminated as widely maybe?
So it’s more of a Oklahoma City bomber than Al-qaeda messaging.
