i had no beef with obama basically saying you know what that redline shyt was just bullshyt, we were kinda hoping assad didn't use chemical weapons on his people, but he did and i'm not really interested in strikes like that. so if you want me to launch them then congress you need to have some skin in the game and authorize it. and i have no beef with trump saying "naaaaaaaaah that's a bit much, let's fall back."

Iran has been praying and planning for moments like these for decades. The Syrian war was an enormous opportunity for the Iranian military, in a single nation (Syria) you had F22s, SU57s, F35s flying in a single airspace, they had the chance to test their missile capabilities from their country and were able to test their air space defence system without direct conflict. Alarm bells should have ran in 2006 when Hezbollah struck an Israeli warship.
If Hezbollah was capable of this in 2006, whilst being a militia with an estimated manpower of 20-50k. Imagine the ability of an 80 million strong united nation such as Iran with immense natural resources, advance scientific and technological sector, advance space program, advance nuclear program with a well-educated population. The main people talking about looking weak or indecisive will be at home comfortably watching the war take place.
Interesting take/theory from a friend of mines who works for the DoD:
Says Trump's pull back wasn't because he's some dove but had to be done because our GPS was taken out and we were flying in blind as a bat. Said story of Trump caring about lives was made to appease him. Also says since the day we attacked Iraq we showed out hand to the world and have just been bullying terrorist organizations since. We haven't fought a real country in a while so a war with Iran will be hard af. Obviously, nothing confirmed just found it interesting.
