Lol, nah breh, you were just wrong. I figured sanctions would be on the table even with deescalation. That always seemed the logical retaliation in response to those forewarned face saving missile strikes. Now that Iran looks to be covering up the accidental shooting down of a civilian airliner, Trump is even more emboldened to add sanctions.
I know it's anti-USA/Trump to the death around these parts, and that's cool, but Iran bungled their "revenge." Yeah yeah yeah, they'll do something, later, eventually, but keep it 100, everyone expected that when Iran did respond it would be devastating. There wouldn't be any "warnings" showing what they could do or whatever the narrative is now, but they were going to just do it. The Americans were the target, yet only Canadians, Iranians, Iraqis, and Ukrainians have died thus far.
Imagine if Mike Pence was assassinated and that was the result; everyone hurt but the actual assassin. Y'all would be calling Trump a p*ssy and idiot until hell froze over. I get it, people hyped up Iran to be the threat and in the end Trump of all people got one over on them. It stings. He's already back to his usual routine of domestic fukkery though. Just be grateful things turned out the way they did.

I really didn't think Iran had a good move after the killing, and I am way less informed than many of the posters here, regarding Iran. They were in an impossible spot. The missiles were a muted response, and it showed their hand for sure. Not to say I agree with treating or even thinking about war and killing like it's a sports game, I don't have a side in this conflict. I liked this OP ED yesterday

They didn't. I can't blame them though, no one expected Trump to pull that card. Iran has a lot of issues domestically but they aren't about to keel over and die by any means. We've gotten used to the US going after (directly or via proxy) countries that only need a weak gust of wind to fully destabilize. Iran is still looked at as powerful and capable (despite the recent amateur hour) so killing their number two so blatantly caught them, and everyone else, with their pants down.
People call Trump an idiot and a madman but only believe the first portion of that. They view him, and now by extension, the US as buffoons only good for aid (if you're an ally) and a good joke (everyone, really). If people really believed he was a madman then this wouldn't have been so shocking. He's dangerous. That always made for a good headline or tweet but no one truly believed it. Well, now you can believe it.
Iran or Hezbollah or Hamas is gonna kidnap, extort, and suspiciously murder a BUNCH of people.
Watch.
This is how I felt the strategy was going to be after Iran made there initial statement after what’s his name got killed.
Them bombing those bases caught me by surprise.
