The dumbest part to me is, if this is really true, how does killing him stop it? Is that position not filled with someone else? Do they not have a chain of command? What, he was keeping all the plans inside his head and now no one knows what to do because everyone forgot what the plan was?

I haven't heard the slightest explanation why killing a general would magically stop these "imminent attacks".

the most overstated claim ive heard in the last week is that the IRGC or Quds Forcewas “decapitated” through Soleimani’s assassination.

Theyre a highly procedural military branch. Soleimani was obviously very experienced and important for his connections to foreign militias but his death wont make the Quds Force a headless chicken. And it doesnt prevent the flow of arms or funding to those militias. If anything all this does is sever a close connection between Iran and those militias. I think they will behave more erratically without him and are possibly a greater threat to US Security in the region than they were before.
