Sony's Venom movie just got a new featured spread in EW, and the article provides what can be considered the official verdict on whether we'll see Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

"Venom is the first of Sony’s new films based on characters from the Spider-Man comics, although it’s a separate world from last year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. (It’s also not part of the deal between Sony and Disney that allows Tom Holland’s Spidey into the Marvel Cinematic Universe)."

trailer was ok i guess but i couldnt get over the cgi tbh.....they gotta clean that shyt up asap. Venom looks way too shiny and unrealistic. Also this is nitpicky but is the hoody and everything the symbiote too? cuz how are all these things shooting out of eddy but the hoody isnt being torn or anything. I wont be seeing this in the theater but im curious to see the ratings for this. Oh and tom hardy delivery of his lines and accent is WOAT. Usually he's spot on but idk what he's doing in this flick.

Don’t even like venom but I’m going to put my spidey geek hat on and get real nerdy:

Venom doesn’t need Spider-Man. He’s spun off in his own book for 30 years now and had his own adventures without peter Parker and it’s not needed. Whether it’s eddie Brock, gargan, or flash, the venom character has shifted and changed over time and they’ve found new ways to have that character live and breathe without Spider-Man. Is it cool to see them together? Sure. But it’s not necessary.

agreed!!! they only go together with the original story.. and since sony isn't doing that, it wouldn't even make sense

venom IS part spidey... spidey had him first, shook him off, then he went to eddie... eddie hated spidey already too... so they combined the hate to make venom... who also knows everything about spidey and doesn't trigger his senses

so to throw him in this series, what's the point? venom don't even know the guy, or about him, nor do they have any sort of connection whatsoever if the symbiote never attached to him.. it'd be real dumb and they knew it..

once they said spidey won't be in it, they had to change everything else

I'm hoping that's not Carnage they spoiled in the trailer and I'm holding on to the Tom Holland appearance rumor. I'm gonna be real, my expectations are low as fukk...I want to believe though

nah there's a rundown out there... there's gonna be 3 symbiotes and they haven't spoiled the actor or carnage IN THE TRAILERS.... but the knowledge is out there

might not be release quality yet... but it looks 2384982379238742398% better than what the fukk i saw in Spiderman 3
