Dean told Roy to never retire as young as he did and plus Roy said he's not going anywhere until this academic stuff is over with. That's why he got pissed at Gotlieb last year.

I dunno... I saw a story where Roy's son Scott said that he and his mother have been trying to get him to retire but he keeps saying that he's having too much fun. Roy even said himself regarding the ncaa investigations that he had hoped it would be done before he retired. Now he hopes it'll be done before he dies.

I also think that at his age you start to become acutely aware of your own mortality. He's had some very close people to him pass away: Coach Smith, Coach Guthridge, and a very close friend who was a prominent businessman in Chapel Hill. Not to mention that Woody Durham, former long time voice of UNC, is having health issues as well. Factor in the troubles he's had with vertigo, his knees and his hip, you could start to wonder about quality of life... Taking all of that in might make Roy say "time to go" at some point.

Selfishly i don't wanna see Roy go because I've seen what can happen (i.e. Doherty, Matt) but we need to be ready. I think there's already a contingency plan in place and it might be Hubert. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.
