That's the nature of the beast now. The media has shifted the narrative surrounding NCAA basketball as a NBA minor league. Cal gets all this praise heaped on him for the amount of NBA talent to come thru there, but only has one chip to show for it. K's squads getting Nae Nae'd on, losing double digit games last year, or even having 8 Burger Boys on the squad this year while finishing possibly in the middle of the pack in the ACC (depending on the UM and FSU outcomes) gets ignored cause kids only stay there a couple months.
Despite the NCAA cloud, the second tier talent he's been getting, and playing in the gauntlet of the ACC, Roy has been coaching his ass off.
he's one kris jenkins shot away from having a much better last 5 years than k (duke tourney last 5 years: first round loss to a 15 seed, elite 8, first round loss to 14 seed, champs, sweet 16 vs unc: elite 8, second round, second round, sweet 16, national runners up). we've also won 3 regular season titles compared to their 0 (likely to be 3 sole possession titles as well). and he's done all this with a massive scandal hanging over his head and no one and dones while k is killing it in that capacity
and then this year, roy loses two of the best players in program history and is a title favorite yet again
but roy gets zero credit even from his own fan base while k is hyped up 24/7
we are so damn lucky to have him
