BREAKING: Kenny Williams out for the season

Kenny Williams out for the season

Williams played in all of UNC's first 26 games, starting22 of them. He averaged 23.7 minutes, 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. The Virginia native shot 41.7% from the field and 33.8% from beyond the three point line.

During the post game press conference, Coach Williams was asked how the lost of Kenny will affect the team's defense.

"I said all year long that Kenny was our best perimeter defender. He really is. Then in the Notre Dame game when he makes three threes he really is a high level player. Some guys have to step up. Theo and Nate...We've got to get better defensively because that is our best perimeter defender."

Expect junior Theo Pinson to become UNC's full time starter with senior Nate Britt and freshman Brandon Robinson getting more minutes in Williams' absence.

Next up for No. 10 North Carolina (22-5, 10-3) is a matchup with No. 14 Virginia (18-6, 8-4) on Saturday, Feb. 18. The game tips at 8:15 PM in the Dean Dome and can be seen on ESPN.

Williams is a pretty good defender. Theo is overrated defensively, IMO. He gives us more on the offensive end than he does on defense.

Williams disappears on offense but the effort on the other side of the court is always there.

Kenny is without question the best perimeter defender and our best help defender. He gives us 1 or 2 charge calls a game by correctly rotating and sliding into place. Theodore gives us more all around on offense tho.

fun fact: nate britt has a better offensive rating and 3pt% in acc play than kenny

not the worst thing.

also kenny is out for 4-6 weeks. likely means the season but if we make a deep run, he could return

I'd still take Kenny Williams over Britt every time

oh i agree. that lesbian softball player looking dude sucks

just dont think its a massive blow to our chances. certainly decreases our margin of error.

i want to see more luke maye on the floor for some reason

Britt is gay as hell and you'll never convince me otherwise.

Luke Maye has stepped his game uplan big time. He'll probably get 25 or more minutes a game next year. He's a huge liability on defense though.

I don't think I'm more excited about watching a player's development next year more than I am about Luke. Although he doesn't have Doug McBuckets athleticism, I think he has the ability to be an inside/outside nightmare at the 4 against teams. Speaking of next year, if Berry leaves, who starts at the point? I know Roy always says PG is the hardest position for freshman in his program, so will Felton not start? Seventh has to make major improvements before I'm comfortable with him as starting PG. Will Roy run Theo at the point til Felton is ready? So many questions at point.
