As I and others have pointed out, these are the sounds McConnell and the not quite as insane Republicans hear loudest. And if Citi is being open about this, there are many others who are delivering the same message on the QT. So it's not impossible Trump gets an impeachment and conviction this time, but McConnell if he's a bytch can refuse to let a trial happen before Trump is gone.

I don't think the Dems are going to take any chances, I believe the move will be to impeach Trump after he's gone and the new Senate is in place.

His own party isn't going to be very supportive of any legislation or action he looks to put in place in his last days and the real reason to impeach him the second time around is to ensure he never holds public office again. Doing it that way, you'll have even more republicans on board - it'll probably take the House and Senate less than a week to get it all done.
