Nailing the fake electors seems like the hinge on which a lot of this rests. The success of a coup largely rests on a select group of people believing they can assist it without consequence. Meaning if they win they're good, and if they lose they simply disappear back into the crowd. These idiots were dumb enough to put their names on documents, so they can't disappear. Nail them.
It's not hard to see something like this happening again with a smarter attempt from a smarter president, and courts willing to play along. Clarence Thomas was clearly willing to play ball, the problem (for Trump) was that no one else on the court was. Seems pretty obvious the Federalist play here is to keep stacking courts with these unqualified extremists who are waiting for the next opportunity to help a Trump-like figure keep power.
