I didn’t get soap opera vibes from this at all. It’s very much so a Dramedy or even a straight up Dark Comedy, but the comedy is def a major ingredient in this throughout.

However you describe it is fine, i not saying soap opera as an insult. Just the sort of vibe i get sitting down and watching this

This was a damn good series to me even if you could figure out the "twist" fairly early. Would love to see Kevin Hart in more of these type of roles which i guess he is going for with this role and the single father movie he just came out with a few months ago.

i enjoyed the episode. it's like a combination of the show entourage and empire.
thought it would make a good movie, but i'm not committed enough to premise to follow it for an entire series. as a movie it's a great departure from the usual Kevin Hart type of film and a return to dramatic urban dramas that made Wesley a star in the 90s. As a show it's 50 cent soap opera status. Which don't get me wrong. thats good entertainment. but not my cup of tea

not at all, 50 shows are urban tough guy clown status - like his raps. true story is pretty much a betrayal suspense - no soap opera vibes (drama for the sake of drama fueled by thin sorytelling). it's only 7 episodes and i think it's only ep 6/7 that could've been combined. excellent performances, enough character development to make you care about the consequences, and enjoyable start to finish.
