I thought that just showed how cold and evil he was

Just look at Eric when placed in a similar situation,he turned Pam instead of letting her die

To me that showed even though Eric presents himself as a bad guy he's really a good guy at heart and even though Bill presents himself as a good guy he's really a bad guy at heart

Maybe I'm wrong but that's just how I see it
