Last years UAE team doesn't have the firepower of climbing time trialling or horsepower this line up has. Last year team was more pure climber heavy. This year it has multiple people who can do Kuss mountain goating or WvA horsepowering. Visma line up last year was well more well rounded. Its basically its classics riders who are all skilled on small to mid climbs + the 3 climbers Jonas Kuss and Kelderman.

Besides Pogi UAE have Ayuso (21) and Almeida (25) who on any other team could compete with Pogi and Jonas because of their climbing and time trialling abilities. Almeida is one of the all time great climbing sufferers. He can get dropped easily but always somehow tempos his way back to the group while looking like he's about to die.

Now we go to the riders who basically match Kuss and WvA. One of the best climbers in the world in Adam Yates who just won Tour de Suisse with Almeida coming 2nd. The current Belgian ITT champ Tim Wellens who is one of the most dangerous hill racers in the peloton. Nils Politt current German ITT champ and dangerous 1 day racer especially on cobbles.

Now the strong climbers Sivakov whose won GC at 3 1 week stages races and Marc Soler.

Visma line up is 6/8 who were on last years team. The only interesting addition is Jorgenson who has been in very good form this year.

What might help Vinegegaard in week 1. Stage 4 is Pogi weakness high altitude climb over 2000 and if its scorching he doesn't like that. Plus the rest of the stages for week 1 suit Visma riders more if they are in yellow after stage 4.

Remco is strong though. He's not as explosive as Pogi and Vingo but he managed to close on both of them after the climb. It'll be very interesting if it can end up as a 3 way battle. Carapaz could even be in the mix.

Pogi lost it on purpose for tactical reasons especially for tomorrow's stage. He tried his best not take it yesterday but only took it due to higher placement aggregate for stages 1-2 when everyone is on the same time on GC. And that's why Carapaz has it now.
