Rick catching L's is fine with me and things like his wife boning his best friend and getting knocked up by him, his best friend trying to kill him, his wife dying, his going nuts are all cool with me.
But making Rick look like an idiot is where I have a problem and his even contemplating the Governor's offer makes him look like a huge idiot. All of his experience with the Governor shows that he is not trustworthy and is a sadistic murdering scumbag so why would he think that he would hold up his end of a bargain?

Rick is a cop.
Again, rick is a cop.
He has a high moral fiber that is pretty much refined innocence.
That will result in moments of social stupidity.
So, you really can not expect him to be a perfect leader.
Or to make realistic socially accurate decisions.
Plus, rick is a cop.
So he also has a distinct weakness and is liable for entertaining people in power.
Regardless, if they are really part of a real government, or not.
That is the beauty of the character of rick.
rick believes so much in government and high morality.
He still thinks that some government or someone in a larger position of power.
That resembles a government or even a kingdom.
Will, save the day and create a promised land.
you can only expect that from a white southern cop.
As a blackman.
It becomes a reaffirmed mantra that we already know and learn from experience not to trust.
Or subscribe to the idea or ideal that the powers that be can create a promised land.
Rick is a southern cop.
Who lived such a safe fantasy land based life.
He has no concept of what shyt is really like.
shyt, he got shot by letting his guard down.
For a gi Joe knowing is half the battle moment.
Way before anyone surveyed the downed criminals and the wreckage.
So, it is natural for rick to take some time to pick up in everything to make the right ultimate decision.
Not to mention,...
He only just suffered and acknowledged facts of real loss, and betrayal.
Starting at the farm with Shane.
Then, he suffered his next loss with Lori.
While, everyone else has suffered loss from the beginning of the apocalypse.
in a more harsh and extreme first person shocking manner.

rick is not the quiz at hadarach, and he has no stillgar present.
He can only do what his experiences and socialization lead him to be.
So, it is more than natural for him to do the shyt he does.
Again rick is a cop.
From a country town,...that from the looks of it.
Never had to worry about shyt on the level of a urban warzone cop.
So, his development and experience in the world.
Is closer to a bit grittier version of enis from dukes of hazard.
Enis, was one of the most gullible, innocent minded cops in the history of television.
Who would help the dukeboys,...
Rick is the same in touch with his innocence type.

Real talk this second half is kinda wack. Like Wtf is the plot man? Just seems like it went from trying to find the promise land to let's kill the governor and build this jail up. Zombies are like a afterthought now IMO. Like it's been a year Plus probably and these dumb fukks still in the same county and shyt probably just on the outer belt of Atlanta.

all these types of lull periods are in good zombie movies.
The reason why the walking dead is dope is.
It takes the best of the the high quality zombie stuff.
Then makes it better.
The while glenn/maggie, governor, prison arc.
Is a lift of a spruced up domestic made 28 days later.
the greatest Zombie movie ever made.
At the prison or military base digs in 28 days later.
The group's main muscle Naomi Harris's character[the greatest horror movie heroine/hero of all time] was humanized by the military leader.
In the same manner michionne was in this serious and in the comic.
As a matter of fact,...the reason why I like this series is.
it is a domestic what if version that gets right.
What people wanted to see for the real sequel of twenty eight days later in 28 weeks later.
Where 28 weeks later picked up where and what if nyomi Harris character, cillian Murphy's character jack and the young female survivor.
Could have seized the prison/military digs stronghold for themselves.
Then had to protect it from a power hungry guy in a position of power.
Over armed and subservient soldiers.
The governor is the military leader from 28 days later.
With a bit of the detail switched around...
How you guys watch or critique this show and have not made the connection to that is an exposal of your lack of knowledge about zombies.
Not to mention,...shows you probably know no Romero on top of it.
I think you dudes need to brush up in your fairly recent zombie movie viewing.
If you want to criticize this show.

All these characters and arcs in this show.
Are easily what if,..we got to see more of the great all time characters in zombie movies.
Plus, what if those characters who died that were the best supporting characters of all time lived.
Case in point,...
The best cop in a zombie movie movie was timothy olyphant from justified in the crazies.
Rick is the twd's version of olyphant's crazies cop character.
Used as a plot device to show his elevation as to how he is so thorough.
Where as olyphant's character in the crazies.
Was a bit to thorough for a country ass cop.
Darryl is Joe, from the crazies.
The best male zombie movie sidekick, and male killer in a zombie movie, ever.
Darryl is a what if Joe never got killed in the crazies.
While Shane is the evil spawn deputy of version of.
What happened to Joe before, he fully turned and took olyphant and his pregnant wife hostage in the crazies.

Glenn is Michael cera in zombie land.
Maggie is a developing neutered version of the love interest from zombieland.
Mixed with the little helpless girl in 28 days later.
Where she has components that make her more thorough than Glenn.
Yet, is written so Glenn is able to ramp up.
To look more masculine and what if we got to see Michael cera evolve past the themepark resolution in zombie land.

Merle is part racist/rescue party member from night of the living dead.
Mixed with what if he was mixed with a bit of the killer likeable no nonsense edge of woody harrelson's character from zombieland.


You dudes, have to watch zombie movies to know why this series is so good.
It is tailor made for romero zombie movie aficionados.
It is also built on horror and b-movie aesthetics.
That unless you know those principles of the genres.
You will be frustrated and asking why something that makes sense to the informed.
Makes no sense to you.

Brush up on your zombie character knowledge.
