This Fukshyt- oh look- another black trauma porn movie. Not even bothering to watch or have any interest in. All that I had to see was that none of those lead actors were black Americans - tells me all that I needed to know. Slavery role after slavery role. No type of authenticity. The fact that this thread is stickied for what? The fact that it’s stickied and didn’t even break more than 2 pages. We are tired of this shyt!!!! Black people were more than slaves; there’s more slave movies and white savior movies than black heroes and historians. fuk this Hollywood shuffle profit for propaganda machine.
the only way I’ll see a movie of this nature is if Nate Robinson produces another retelling like Birth of a Nation.

I read the novel 2-3 years ago, I knew the show would get off the ground after the (admittedly rough) 1st episode. Barry is really the only director who could've done this story justice. He's got the visual know how to make it look gorgeous in parts, and he's got the sensibility not to let the trauma define the main characters.
