Finished of the Trilogy in the Marathon with the conclusion "Revolutions". Even though this film was shot at the same time as "Reloaded" and picks up where it left off. It's a very different film. "Reloaded" was like an adrenalin rush. Action packed all throughout. "Revolutions" was much slower. The film is basically the build up to the machines war in Zion while Neo goes to the Machine City to speak to the Machine God. All while Smith completely takes over the Matrix as a virus. Again I always loved the Zion War. The Machines were wild in their attack. The Machines the Humans used were ill and reminded me of Japanese Anime. It's considered the weakest of the three mostly because again it was slower than the other two. It takes place mostly in the "Real World" instead of the Matrix. Neo Vs Smith in the rain at the end was great final battle and had some Dragon Ball vibes too. Also the idea of Smith in the Real World was a very interesting flip too.

Unlike many other Trilogies, "Revolutions" isn't really happy ending. Our Heroes victory ends in death (Though Morpheus was the last standing of the Big 3 along with Niobi) The War ends in a truce and it wasn't like the Death Star blew up in "Return of the Jedi". The way I've always view the trilogy was Matrix represented Birth, Reloaded represented Life and Revolutions was Death. In the end, Neo and Trinity scarified themselves to save humanity. Everyone didn't go off into the sunset. So that made the film very depressing. Again most Trilogies don't end this way. It was my least fav but I still enjoyed it overall. The Machine war definitely made it worth it. The film ended with the Oracle and Sati looking at a sunset. Neo's actions reloaded the Matrix and this version was updated. With "Resurrections" we see where the Machine Truce is and why both Neo and Trinity are somehow still alive. Rumors are 20-30 years have passed so we will see where everyone is now and what version of the Matrix this is. Also they are saying for those that have HBO Max, "Matrix Resurrections" will premiere 12:01 AM PT and 3AM Eastcoast. So my final rankings are:

Matrix: 5/5
Reloaded: 4/5
Revolutions: 3.5/5

Once they started completely CGI'ing the people in the scenes in reloaded the action lost a lot of its luster to me. They still had great "boom" effects but the human hand-to-hand combat is what I love to see.
I thought this was a perfect time to reset. Keanu has done lots of hand to hand combat scenes since the OG matrix. Not sure why Yahya and whoever else they cast as agents and Zioners wouldn't be able to get choreo down. They had all the time in the world, and a pandemic delay. Crazy, the bigger the budget got the worse the movies became. I though Lana learned.

That said, Im still looking forward to it and gonna hope for the best.

Everything I'm hearing is exactly what I DIDN'T want

Bad fight scenes?? How can you even call it the Matrix if these are subpar?

Bad special effects? It's 2021 and the budget can't be low for a matrix film can it?

A humorous love story? What in the actual fukk. The original took the material very seriously

This sounds exactly like Force Awakens, which I fukkin hated
That's why its going to be on HBOMax. I know Warner has been doing the streaming and theater releases this year but lets fess up, if they were really confident about this latest Matrix installment it would've been released only in the theaters. Seems like the main goal is to have this drive up Max subscription numbers than simply sitting back and allowing the critic wolves to shower it with bad reviews which ultimately keeps people away from going to see it in the theater.

Damn, reviews coming in.

I didn’t know dude from mindhunters was in it lol that’s surprising. I also didn’t know he was a broadway singer.

It was the other way around for me. I knew Groff as a big Broadway star(he was the original King of England in Hamilton), and was shocked to see him in something like Mindhunters.

"Matrix Resurrections" is already making a splash at the international box office. It made 9.1 Million at the Box Office in a limited opening in 7 countries. It comes in #1 in Japan and Thailand. #2 in Russia. That puts it head of "Eternals" opening gross and "Tenet" Last year. Mind you both of those are PG13 and not R-Rated like "The Matrix". That's pretty good opening for only 7 countries. It's opening in 69 countries next weekend so it's already looking like a strong internationally box office. We shall see what it does here in the US. It's opening Wednesday so this is considered a 5-Day opening (Wed-Sun). Christmas Eve and Christmas are in it's opening weekend. "The Matrix Trilogy" has grossed over 1.6 Billion at the Worldwide Box Office.
