He could easily be not telling the truth to not spoil something, regardless I doubt he plays a huge role but I’d be extremely surprised if he doesn’t have a cameo at some point in the film

Technically he died in the matrix MMORPG. We don’t even know if Trinity is actually alive or is just a program to keep Neo happy. There could be a ton of in story explanations, Morpheus could be present in every iteration of the matrix and look different. It could be his son. It could be a younger version. Laurence is no spring chicken, not like he going to be walking around kicking ass like Keanu still can. I’m keeping my expectations low as well but nothing is even relevant until we know the story of the film

The thread went from informative to just people complaining about a film that hasn’t been released based on a 1.5 minute trailer.

Let them explain the story in December and stop crying about characters we have no idea about.

That's why I assumed he wasn't in it. Out of the main 3 he looked his age so they just said screw it and went in a different direction. I would have liked to see him in it but oh well.

They did make the videogame Canon to the movies so The OG Morpheus being dead would make some sense. I'm hoping he's his son.

Another Trinity and Neo (8th version of them both) also makes sense.

We'll find out I guess.

It’s technically canon via the sisters Trinity may be real, she would serve a purpose of keeping Keanu docile within the matrix if the architect or machines are trying to keep him from figuring everything out. I’m just saying there are plenty of story explanations as to why Laurence might not be in it, and he very well may have a cameo and we just don’t know. look Laurence is great but he’s out of shape, he wouldn’t be the same type of Morpheus anyway. Keanu is barely younger but he’s in great shape and is still believable when he’s kicking ass
