Curious that UAE has no problem arming RSF to the teeth and ethnically cleansing Black Africans and looting Sudan's resources but HTS is too radical for them. I think I'm going to struggle squaring that. Out of curiosity do you guys hold a positive view of the UAE and Sheikh Mohammed?

They’re in favour of anyone that is remotely anti MB or Islamists of any stripe. The RSF aren’t religiously inspired or leaning and claim they’re fighting MB and other Islamists in Sudan, hence the UAE backing. There’s also a commercial aspect to it, as Dubai is a clearinghouse for illicit gold trade.

I don’t hold a positive view of current UAE rulers - I think they’re far overextended and trying to influence too many conflicts far outside of their realm.

It’s ideological. UAE doesn’t mess with the Muslim Brotherhood or allies to it. That’s Turkey and Qatar domain
