Hama has fallen

Now the Syrian army is in Homs

This is still pretty wild.

It is truly over. Homs is a 40 minute drive from Hama and reports that theyre headed that direction already. Hama was never held by rebels at any point of the war in past decade.

At this point, its matter of time before they march on Damascus.

Yeah Assad is probably doneso. Without one of the big two military apparatus behind you it’s gonna be hard to make demands.

Don’t get the feeling Putin is going to risk any more equipment outside of Ukraine. Once he tells his troops to get out it’s over.

They are within striking distance of the Russian naval and military base on the coast, so will be interesting to see if a) they try to head that direction and b) what the Russians do in response.

Considering the geopolitics involved in this war, I wouldnt be surprised a deal is broked via Turkey for the rebels to reach an accomodation with Russia in exchange for Assad giving into to a transitional government. This wouldve been unthinkable at any point in past 13 years, but it is a very plausible endgame.

Yeah that’s probably where this is headed. The Russians are not wedded to Assad. The Iranians also don’t have a strong hand since Oct 8, 2023.

The economic destruction of the country and no development has tipped things too
