It also logically speaking makes no sense for Assad to use chemical weapons at this late stage of the war when he's the one winning...
A chemical attack all but guarantees foreign intervention which is the only thing that can save the rebels at this stage of the war...
Assad is a sadistic piece of shyt capable of gassing his own people but he's not a dumbass...
There have been dozens of chemical attacks since 2012, including one attributed directly to Assad by the OPCW investigation mandated by the whole security council ( including Russia) ... and yet we haven’t seen foreign intervention yet. All Assad and Russian media sources were screaming that all those chemical attacks were illogical and would lead to foreign intervention back then too. Simply another fearmongering tactic to deflect culpability.
Hell pre summer of 2013, Syria denied they had *any chemical weapons* whatsoever. When an attack looked imminent following the 2013 chemical attack, a huge stockpile magically appeared as part of the deal Russia and the US struck. They rely on the amnesia of their audience to shift goalposts and use as much disinformation as possible till people forget. Then use the chemical weapons again.
