So with the complete series coming out on blu-ray this year, I picked up season 1 to see if I'll like it. HBO hasn't disappointed me, and After 2 eps it's a show I'm likely gonna add to my collection. I was just wondering if this show ia considered a dramady? This dude Greg is a goofy fukker.

It’s a drama first and foremost (and at its core). But there’s also some comedic dialogue and situations. It’s not try hard to make you laugh comedy (however there are four characters specifically that can be considered the comedic relief, Greg being one of them). All the comedy happens organically on the show. It’s subtle most the times imo.

I always use this example (not sure if you’ve seen the show I’m about to mention).

The feel of the show is like if the Lannister’s from Game of Thrones got their own show. And it was set in modern times, based on business, and their dominance in the corporate world. With additionally some dark humor. To me, Succession is that exactly.

Wouldn’t be surprised if that was the actual pitch for the show. :heh:

Yeah, it’s a mix of drama and dark comedy. More so of a drama.

It cleaned up in the drama category a couple months ago at the Emmys.

Just finished episode 6 (season 1). Great ep. Is this the ep that kick starts the show to another level? The first 5 eps were slow. I understand new shows need to develop their universe, and even though things may have felt like they were dragging it was still interesting enough to keep my attention.

For me personally. I hated episode 1. Thought it was too slow. The second episode on. Idk it just started clicking for me. Season 2 on imo has more fukkery. Plus, the more I seen of the show. The more, and more intrigued I was of each of the characters and their behaviour towards each other (the relationships). Even though I couldn't really resonate with them. It did however remind me of the McMahons and the WWE at the time. Which is why I think I enjoyed the series so much.

I read this somewhere before. "The show is relatively straightforward. While there is symbolism throughout. I promise you there is never going to be some crazy twist". I agree.

Yeah, most of the characters are douchebags, but as of now Kendall, Logan, and Greg are the only decent ones.

Kendall comes off somewhat decent. A man in recovery trying to keep the business afloat and keep his family (wife and kids) together.

Logan, I like him because he doesn’t take shyt and has a ruthless side to him. Not a complete a$$hole with those beneath him (first episode where he gives the kid positive talk and the watch).

Greg, despite being goofy and non-threatening, has some smarts and just trying to live in a den of wolves.

I don’t k ow when I’ll get to finish the series, but I’m looking forward to watching it.
