I thought about this some more and let's say it did get canceled...would that make rent/home prices even more unaffordable? I'm inclined to believe that everyone's budget would increase if they didn't have any student loan payments.

Speaking of repayment plans. My thing about the PSLF is they make it so stringent and arduous for no reason. 10 years and you can’t get it till afterwards … and it had to be a certain plan and even then there’s other stipulations.
the DoD has an incentive for civilians where they will pay loans off, 10k a year, to retain a highly valued employee. You just have to remain an employee during the repayment.
and you don’t have to work there 10 years first to get it.
They also have programs for newly graduated students who they are recruiting. They pay the loan off, yearly as an incentive to work for the Government.
