What i dont understand is why he thinks he can cancel 10k but 50k he suddenly doesnt have the authority for.

Why draw the line there other than you just not wanting to help that much.

When it comes to covid relief he cant "go too big, the problem is going too small"

But cancelling student debt which would arguably help the economy more than most of his other measures you can quickly find the line of just too much.

Just sign the 50k away, the "ivy league students" will still be in debt if they arent rich believe me.

10k is still straight. The 50k was always a pipe dream. He just needs to get Congress to move on it.
I dont think anyones mad if they got 10k cancelled. But it just seems dumb that he can sign 10k away no big deal. 50k is suddenly just insane despite it literally being a flick of the pen lmao

Why? Why not increase the interest rates to teach people a lesson and build some tough national character?

How much debt you got bro? (If you don’t mind saying)

I thought they were changing PSLF to wash 10k for each year of public service. With me for example, if this nikka Biden really wash 10 for us, I’ll have 33k left. But since I been in non-profit since Oct 2017.. I’m eligible to have 4 more years retroactively (40k) washed.

Additional forgiveness for public service
Biden would introduce a new student loan forgiveness program for borrowers who provide public service.

  • Up to $50,000 would be forgiven. Under Biden’s plan, $10,000 of your debt would be automatically canceled for each year you perform eligible service, for up to five years total.

  • It wouldn’t replace Public Service Loan Forgiveness. That program, which is available to government workers, teachers and other nonprofit employees, requires borrowers to make 120 eligible payments to have their remaining balance forgiven.
